Drew Smyly's (elbow) scheduled simulated game for Wednesday has been scratched.

There's no word yet on the reason, but you'd have to assume it's health-related. Smyly has been out all season with a strained flexor bundle in his pitching elbow. The Mariners should offer an update on the left-hander later Tuesday.

Conor Gillaspie (back) will be placed on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game.

Gillaspie just returned last week from a six-week absence with a back issue and he's apparently still not 100 percent. Jae-gyun Hwang will replace him on the roster.
Jun 27 - 6:56 PM

Jae-gyun Hwang will be called up by the Giants prior to Wednesday's game.

Hwang was going to use the opt-out clause in his minor league contract if he wasn't promoted by July 1, but now he won't have to worry about that. The 29-year-old has batted .287/.331/.466 with six homers, 43 RBI, and five steals through 67 games with Triple-A Sacramento. He wouldn't appear to be in line for a ton of at-bats, but the Giants might as well give him a shot.
Jun 27 - 6:55 PM

Odubel Herrera is not in the Phillies' lineup Tuesday.

He'll take a seat with the Mariners throwing lefty James Paxton. Daniel Nava, Aaron Altherr and Cameron Perkins will be in the outfield.
Jun 27 - 6:46 PM

Rockies transferred OF David Dahl from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Mike Tauchman. Dahl remains out indefinitely with a stress reaction in his rib.
Jun 27 - 6:45 PM

Rockies purchased the contract of OF Mike Tauchman from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Tauchman, 26, has batted .313/.377/.529 with 10 homers and 11 steals with Albuquerque this season. He can play all three outfield spots and could see some time in right field while Carlos Gonzalez (shoulder) is out.
Jun 27 - 6:43 PM

Rockies optioned RHP Jairo Diaz to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Diaz was knocked around in an appearance Monday and is headed right back to the minors.
Jun 27 - 6:41 PM

Yasiel Puig is not in the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday.

Puig returned to action Monday but didn't look totally comfortable as he battles a nagging hamstring issue. Trayce Thompson is in right field. Justin Turner is also getting a breather, as Logan Forsythe is at third base and Chase Utley is at second.
