Brett Lawrie homered, stole a base and scored two runs in Saturday's win over the Orioles.

Lawrie hit a solo home run, his third of the season, in the fourth inning before walking to lead off the seventh. He promptly stole second base -- his second steal of the year -- and came around to score on an Austin Jackson RBI single. In his first year with the Sox, Lawrie is hitting .267/.347/.444 with nine RBI and 14 runs scored.

Pedro Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI Saturday against the White Sox.

Alvarez belted his first home run as a member of the Sox in the fourth inning. He added an RBI double an inning later, finishing the proverbial triple shy of the cycle. After a brutal start the 29-year-old has begun to round into form in recent days, going 7-for-12 with three doubles and the homer to raise his overall line to .224/.333/.367.

Adeiny Hechavarria went 4-for-5 against the Brewers on Saturday night with his second homer of the season.

He pounced on a grooved two-strike fastball from Chase Anderson in the second inning, and although he reached base three more times, that home run marked his only run and RBI of the night. His big night ended a dreadful 3-for-29 stretch in his previous nine games. The 27-year-old shortstop is now hitting .222/.256/.347 in 78 plate appearances.

Mat Latos allowed 11 hits and four runs over five innings in Saturday's no-decision against the Orioles.

Things could have been much worse for the right-hander, as both of the home runs he allowed came without men on base. It has been something of a high-wire act for Latos to this point, as he's got a 1.84 ERA and 1.09 WHIP despite not striking out many batters. Strikeouts aren't everything, of course, but relying on batted ball luck will only get you so far. We'll see if Saturday's start was an aberration or a sign of things to come when Latos meets up with the Twins on Friday.

Chase Anderson got lit up once again in Saturday’s loss to the Marlins, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and four walks in just 4 1/3 innings.

After 11 scoreless innings to begin the 2016 campaign, Anderson has imploded for 15 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings, resulting in three-consecutive losses. The most concerning part of his tailspin has been the six homers allowed -- three of which came on Saturday night. The right-hander now owns a 5.55 ERA on the year, and his 5.96 FIP suggests that it’s truly been as bad as it seems.

Wei-Yin Chen handcuffed the Brewers on Saturday night before his bullpen failed to strand a pair of runners in the seventh, ultimately ending his night with three runs allowed on 6 2/3 innings.

After a rocky debut against the Tigers, Chen has put together a run of four consecutive quality starts. He has yet to surrender fewer than two earned runs in an outing, but he’s always been a solid mid-rotation starter and fantasy owners who expected anything else were merely deluding themselves. A two-run flare into center from Ramon Flores with two outs spoiled what was otherwise a lovely performance from the lefty. Chen has a 4.26 ERA in 31 2/3 innings with just a 1.71 BB/9 walk rate. He should be good for an ERA in the mid-to-high 3.00s and 150 strikeouts. Just a solid fantasy workhorse with solid statistics in all fantasy categories.

Mookie Betts went 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and three RBI in Saturday's 8-0 demolition of the Yankees.

Betts kicked off the scoring with a two-RBI double in the second inning off righty Michael Pineda. Given the pre-season hype, some may not be satisfied with his .266/.298/.459 slash line. Few people realize, though, that he's been the third-best fantasy outfielder in 2016. A combination of four homers, 19 runs, 17 RBI and six stolen bases will do that. Betts has been very, very good for fantasy owners this year and should be a full five-category contributor.
Apr 30 - 11:13 PM

Kevin Gausman gave up three runs -- two earned -- over six innings in a no-decision Saturday against the White Sox.

The right-hander was largely good, surrendering just four hits and a walk while striking out three, but his bullpen couldn't hold on to get Gausman his first win. He's been strong in both of his starts since coming off the disabled list, owning a 2.45 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in those starts. He'll seek that elusive first win Friday against the A's.
