Andrew Miller departed an appearance Monday against the Red Sox with an apparent injury.

Miller threw seven pitches -- with only two of them going for strikes -- before walking off the mound and into the clubhouse. His velocity ranged from 88-92 mph. It was his second appearance since returning from tendinitis in his right knee, but it's unclear if that's what he's dealing with again. The Indians should have an update soon.

Steven Matz will undergo surgery this week to repair irritation of the ulnar nerve in his left elbow.

Matz was given an injection in his elbow Monday, but rather than wait to see if that would help him improve enough to return later this season, the Mets have decided it would be best for him to go under the knife now. The left-hander has reportedly been pitching through pain all season, and it's been reflected in his 6.07 ERA over 13 starts. Teammate Jacob deGrom had the same operation last September and returned for the start of spring training. It's possible Matz could be brought along a little more slowly given his past elbow issues, but he should have a good shot to be ready on Opening Day if all goes smoothly with his rehab.

Matt Davidson (wrist) will be cleared for a rehab assignment if he gets through a workout Tuesday with no issues.

Davidson has missed the last two-plus weeks with a bruised right wrist. It's looking like he could return in the next week or so.

Yolmer Sanchez hit a three-run homer and tallied four total RBI as the White Sox topped the Twins 7-6 in the first half of Monday's doubleheader.

Sanchez went deep off Twins starter Tim Melville in the bottom of the fourth inning and he drove in Nicky Delmonico on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. The 25-year-old utility infielder is still batting just .251/.305/.374 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 104 total games this season.

Jose Abreu hit his 25th home run of the year as the White Sox topped the Twins in the first half of Monday's split doubleheader.

Abreu doubled and scored in the bottom of the first inning and went deep for a solo shot off Twins left-hander Nik Turley in the bottom of the fifth, finishing 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in the 8-7 victory. The 30-year-old first baseman is sporting an .893 OPS on the season, the highest such mark for him since he registered a .964 OPS in his breakout rookie campaign.
Aug 21 - 9:00 PM

Brian Dozier went 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored in the Twins' loss to the White Sox on Monday evening.

Dozier scored the first run of the split doubleheader after drawing a leadoff walk in the top of the first inning. He then singled in the top of the seventh and doubled in the top of the eighth, but Minnesota ultimately fell 7-6 in the early game at Guaranteed Rate Field. Dozier is enjoying an excellent August and has lifted his season OPS to .826. The 30-year-old second baseman has 25 home runs, 23 doubles, 68 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 70 runs scored in 116 total games played.

Jorge Polanco hit a three-run homer, drew a walk, and scored two runs but the Twins fell to the White Sox in the first half of Monday's doubleheader.

Polanco scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh and brought the Twins to within one run with his three-run shot in the top of the eighth, but that is where the offense ended for Minnesota. Polanco, 24, is batting .245/.294/.356 with four home runs, 44 RBI, and 40 runs scored in 95 games this season.

Matt Harvey (shoulder) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over three innings in a rehab start with Double-A Binghamton on Monday.

He struck out three and gave up a home run. More important than his line is that Harvey was reportedly sitting mostly in the 89-92 mph range with his fastball, which obviously isn't ideal. It was the righty's third rehab start, and he's obviously going to need at least one more before rejoining the Mets' rotation.
