Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said Sunday that he expects Jung Ho Kang (knee) to initially play two out of every three games upon his activation from the disabled list.
That sounds about right. Kang is making his way back from a torn meniscus and fractured tibia and just recently began playing in back-to-back games on his rehab assignment. The Pirates have some infield depth, so there's no need to push Kang too hard too fast.
Indians purchased the contract of C Adam Moore from Triple-A Columbus.
He'll serve as Yan Gomes' backup while Roberto Perez (thumb) is on the shelf.
Indians placed C Roberto Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right thumb.
It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but obviously it will be a while. Adam Moore is up to serve as Yan Gomes' backup.
Nationals optioned C Pedro Severino to Triple-A Syracuse.
Severino filled in for a few days while Wilson Ramos was on the bereavement list.
Nationals activated C Wilson Ramos from the bereavement list.
He's not starting Sunday but is available off the bench. Pedro Severino has been optioned in a corresponding move.
Angels transferred LHP C.J. Wilson from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Shane Robinson. Wilson is rehabbing a shoulder issue and isn't expected back until mid-June.
Angels recalled RHP A.J. Achter from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Achter threw a scoreless inning in his lone appearance with the big club last month. He'll work in middle relief.
Angels purchased the contract of OF Shane Robinson from Triple-A Salt Lake.
He's taking Craig Gentry's (back) spot on the roster and is starting in left field and batting eighth Sunday. Robinson should see regular playing time against lefties for a while.
