Padres activated RHP Colin Rea from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A El Paso.

Rea is finally healthy after missing all of last year following Tommy John surgery, but struggled during his rehab assignment, contributing a sluggish 7.13 ERA over six starts for Double-A San Antonio. This will the right-hander a little more time to shake off the rust.

Mets optioned RHP Paul Sewald to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Chris Flexen was also sent down. Sewald didn't retire either of the two batters he faced in Thursday's loss to Colorado, walking Ian Desmond before yielding a base hit to Chris Iannetta. After starting the year 11-1, the Mets are now 10 games below .500.

Mets optioned RHP Chris Flexen to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Flexen's stay in the big leagues lasted all of four pitches. He retired the only batter he faced in Thursday's loss to Colorado. The 23-year-old carries an ugly 8.05 ERA across 16 major league appearances including nine starts.

Mike Dunn (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

The left-hander has made significant progress since landing on the DL with a rhomboid strain earlier this month and figures to return to the Rockies' bullpen sometime next week. They could sure use him—Colorado's pen ranks dead-last in ERA (5.65).

Alen Hanson (knee) is in the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Padres.

Hanson fouled a ball off his knee Wednesday against the Marlins but escaped with only a bruise. He'll play left field and bat leadoff Thursday against Padres right-hander Tyson Ross.
