Rhys Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Hoskins smashed a three-run home run off Ty Blach in the third inning. The 24-year-old outfielder made his major league debut on August 10 and has jumped out of the gate with four home runs in his first 10 games in the bigs.

Cameron Rupp went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and a walk in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Rupp put a final bow on a strong offensive night by the Phillies, cracking a solo home run in the ninth inning to put the Giants up by a 12-4 score. The backstop has now homered in back-to-back games. For the overall campaign, he owns a .233/.320/.446 triple-slash with 12 homers and 27 RBI over the course of 71 games played.
Aug 20 - 1:22 AM

Denard Span went 2-for-3 with a solo inside-the-park home run and three total RBI in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

Span scooted his way around the bases for an inside-the-park home run in the first inning and collected a two-run single just one frame later. No further RBI damage after that point for the veteran outfielder. For the campaign as a whole, Span is hitting a modest .275/.326/.431 with nine homers, 32 RBI and eight steals over the course of 96 games played. He no longer holds any fantasy value, but has been a dependable enough contributor during this trying season by the Giants.
Aug 20 - 1:17 AM

Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-5 with a two-run single and a double in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

Sandoval hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to spark an ultimately failed comeback attempt from down 12-4. They drew to within 12-9 before the magic ran out. In 13 games since joining the Giants after being released by the Red Sox, Sandoval is hitting .250/.280/.375 with one homer and four RBI.
Aug 20 - 1:05 AM

Jerad Eickhoff allowed four runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Eickhoff was not exactly cruising in this one, but he was more than adequate compared to opposing starter Ty Blach. The Giants burned Eickhoff for a run in the first inning, two in the second and one more in the fourth to account for the damage on his line. He will bring a 4.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into a home start against the Marlins in his next scheduled outing.

Scooter Gennett had two hits, including a grand slam, and five RBI as the Reds outlasted the Braves 11-8 on Saturday.

Gennett drove in a run with a sac fly in the seventh inning before lifting a no-doubter into the right field seats in the ninth. It seemed like piling on at the time, but the Braves plated four of their own in the bottom of the frame, making Gennett's slam the difference. He's now got 21 homers on the season, easily a career best, and he's also on pace to set career highs in runs scored, RBI, slugging percentage and OPS as well. There have been few more surprising stories in 2017 than that of the Brewers castoff.
Aug 20 - 12:53 AM

Ty Blach coughed up six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

Blach struck out three and walked two in the dreadful outing. Three of the six runs on his line scored courtesy of a three-run home run off the bat of Rhys Hoskins in the third inning. He has been hit hard in his last two outings, having surrendered 12 runs on 15 hits over 11 1/3 innings in those starts. He will try for better times when he carries his 4.59 ERA and 1.34 WHIP into a road date with the Diamondbacks next time he takes to the mound.
Aug 20 - 12:53 AM

Brandon Phillips went 3-for-6 with a home run in a loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Phillips punished his old team with a solo blast in the third inning, his 11th homer of the year. He also notched a pair of singles in the game. The 36-year-old hasn't missed a beat offensively since moving to the hot corner on defense, and through Saturday Phillips is hitting .287/.327/.431 on the year. He'll be a free agent after this season.
