Scott Feldman said his knee bothered him Thursday against the Cubs.

The right-hander got blown up for six runs in only 3 2/3 innings Thursday and his fastball was barely hitting 82 mph. Feldman hasn't looked right since coming off the DL earlier this month and admitted as much after the game. "If it doesn’t get any better, I don’t think I can pitch like that anymore," he said. "We’ll see." If anything, Feldman's knee seems to be getting worse, not better. With nothing left to play for this year, the Reds may consider shutting Feldman down for the season. Headed for free agency this winter, Thursday may very well have been Feldman's final start in a Reds uniform.

Stephen Strasburg (elbow) is expected to return Saturday against the Padres.

He'll return to the mound in his home city of San Diego after missing roughly three weeks with an elbow impingement. Strasburg looked sharp in his lone rehab start, fanning five over five innings of one-run ball Monday for High-A Potomac. The former first overall pick has been steady as ever this year, going 10-3 with a 3.28 ERA over 20 starts for the first-place Nats.

Robbie Grossman left the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Indians with a left thumb injury.

He injured himself in a near-collision with Byron Buxton in center field. Max Kepler pinch-hit for Grossman and replaced him in right field. Grossman singled in his only at-bat before exiting.

Chris Archer scattered five hits and three runs over seven strong innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

Archer served up a pair of solo homers to Josh Donaldson but was otherwise lights out. He finished his afternoon with 10 strikeouts and didn’t walk anyone. Archer has fanned 10 or more hitters in three of his last six outings, though he’s only won once during that span. He’ll take a 3.84 ERA into his next start Wednesday against the very same Jays he just faced.

Evan Longoria reached base four times Thursday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Longoria singled, doubled and walked twice. His wall-ball double in the eighth, which fell just out of Ezequiel Carrera’s reach in center field, knotted the game at three, though Justin Smoak broke the tie with a solo blast later in the inning. The Rays’ long-time third baseman has hit .268 with 17 homers and 68 RBI this season.
