Nationals SS prospect Trea Turner racked up four hits in Saturday's win for Triple-A Syracuse.

He's plated five runs over his last three games. Turner has hit .322 across two minor league levels including .311 in his first 33 games for Syracuse. He began the year with the Padres but was sent to Washington in June as part of the Will Myers trade. The 22-year-old is 23-for-28 on stolen base attempts this year.

Making a spot start against the Brewers on Sunday, Clayton Richard fired six innings of one-run ball.

Richard is only up for this start, as the Cubs needed a warm body in the rotation as they await the arrival of the recently acquired Dan Haren. He made the most of the opportunity, with the only run against him scoring on a Hernan Perez RBI ground out in the second inning. A return to Triple-A Iowa is imminent, but Richard could see additional spot duty depending on the future state of the Cub rotation. He holds a 4.29 ERA in 21 innings at the big league level this season.

Kyle Lohse picked up his 13th loss of the season in Sunday's contest with the Cubs, allowing four runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Sunday's start counts as a decent outing relative to some of Lohse's other disasters this season. He allowed solitary runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings while striking out three against one walk. For the season, he holds a 6.31 ERA and 1.47 WHIP to pair with a 86/30 K/BB ratio over 124 innings. The Cardinals are up next on his schedule, which probably isn't a good thing.

White Sox optioned RHP Scott Carroll to Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox certainly got their use out of Carroll on Sunday, as he pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief against the Yankees, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out six. He'll continue to serve as organizational bullpen depth at Triple-A until a fresh arm is needed again.
Aug 2 - 5:39 PM

Carlos Gomez went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Gomez took an 0-for-5 in his first game with the Astros on Friday, but he's come through in each of the last two games, notching three hits on Saturday and a two-run single on Sunday. He hit .262/.328/.423 with the Brewers, but if he's able to stay healthy, we could see a rejuvenated hitter as the Astros battle for a playoff spot.

Dodgers LHP prospect Julio Urias didn't allow a hit in 5 1/3 innings Saturday for Double-A Tulsa.

Urias gave up four walks, which led to two runs for Arkansas. Even though he lost, it was still an impressive outing for Urias, who has limited opponents to a .199 average in 12 starts this season. The 18-year-old missed two months earlier this year after undergoing cosmetic eye surgery but it shouldn't affect him going forward.

Jake Lamb went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Sunday's loss to the Astros.

Lamb doubled home a run against Astros starter Collin McHugh in the second inning. The Diamondbacks wouldn't score again in the game, though, as they fell by a score of 4-1. For the season, the Snakes' third baseman is hitting .279/.340/.425 with three homers and 24 RBI across 179 at-bats.
Aug 2 - 5:34 PM

Collin McHugh turned in an impressive start in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks, tossing seven innings of one-run ball.

McHugh struck out six and walked one while scattering eight hits over his seven innings of work. The lone run to score against him came home on an RBI double by Jake Lamb in the second inning. This would be the only run the Astros allowed in the game. McHugh moved to 13-5 with the victory and now holds a 4.27 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 108/34 K/BB ratio across 139 innings. A road start against the A's awaits him on the schedule.
