Rockies pitching Antonio Senzatela allowed two hits in 5 2/3 shutout innings Tuesday in a win for High-A Modesto.

He struck out nine batters, two off his season-high. The 20-year-old continues to climb the California League leaderboard. He's second in innings pitched (62), second in WHIP (1.03), fourth in strikeouts (61) and fourth in ERA (2.32). A promotion could be in the right-hander's near future.

Eduardo Rodriguez was terrific again Wednesday, striking out seven across seven innings of one-run ball in a 6-3 win over the Twins.

Brian Dozier took Rodriguez deep in the third inning, but he yielded just one single otherwise and matched his 7/2 K/BB ratio from his major league debut last week. The left-hander has been hugely impressive in his first two outings, yielding just one run and five hits across 14 2/3 frames. He'll try to keep rolling the next time out in Baltimore.

Phil Hughes was touched up for five runs on 11 hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 frames in a loss to the Red Sox.

Nine of the hits Hughes surrendered were singles, but the Red Sox had no trouble squaring him up in this one. The outing was Hughes' shortest of the season. Although Hughes' walk rate remains way down this season (0.9 BB/9), that's about all he's done right, as he's struck out just 45 across 69 innings and holds a 4.96 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He'll try to bounce back next week against the Royals.

Cubs recalled OF Mike Baxter from Triple-A Iowa.

Baxter was just optioned back to the minors on Tuesday, but he's suddenly been recalled because Jorge Soler is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain. Baxter will give the Cubs some needed outfield depth while Soler recovers.

Dustin Pedroia went 4-for-5, drove in a run and scored a pair of runs in Wednesday's win over the Twins.

All four of his hits were singles, but Pedroia will take it. He's now up to a .300/.362/.438 batting line for the season after notching hits in 13 of his last 14 contests. The Red Sox pounded out 13 base knocks and six runs in this one, with Xander Bogaerts picking up three hits and Mike Napoli homering.

Cubs placed OF Jorge Soler on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain.

Soler suffered the injury Monday while running to first base and hadn't shown enough improvement over the last couple of days to warrant staying active. The 23-year-old Cuban should be ready when his 15-day stint is over. Junior Lake figures to get a nice boost in playing time over the next two weeks.

Marlins 2B prospect Brian Anderson finished a home run shy of the cycle Tuesday in a win for High-A Jupiter.

Anderson plated four runs for the Hammerheads while contributing his first three-hit game of the season. The 22-year-old has hit .405 over his last ten games with nine RBI. Anderson is still batting just .247 for the year but the Marlins shouldn't be worried. Keep in mind, this is Anderson's first full season in the minors after being drafted in the third round in 2014.
