Profootballtalk reports the Vikings could "reverse course" on Monday's decision to reinstate Adrian Peterson.

Instead of dying down, the firestorm has only intensified since the Vikings welcomed back their franchise back, with the NFL looking into the case and the governor of Minnesota calling for AD to be suspended. Although they're unlikely to release Peterson outright, the Vikings are likely going to do the math that the controversy isn't worth it, and suspend AD until his legal situation is resolved. He's less than 50-50 to be active for Week 3.

Free agent RB LaMichael James worked out for the Dolphins on Tuesday.

It's James' first-known workout since he was cut by the 49ers last week. The Dolphins are extremely thin at running back after losing Knowshon Moreno to an elbow injury in Week 2, resorting to re-signing Daniel Thomas on Monday.

Speaking Monday, Bears CB Peanut Tillman (triceps, injured reserve) strongly suggested he plans to continue his career in 2015.

"I know this feeling way too well, but this isn’t the end of the road for me," Tillman said after his triceps sent him to injured reserve for the second time in as many seasons. It's an admirable sentiment, but the league isn't kind to aging cornerbacks. Tillman turns 34 in February. Perhaps he'll be open to playing safety in 2015.

Lions signed CB Danny Gorrer and LB Julian Stanford.

A journeyman, Gorrer appeared in seven games for the Bucs last season. Stanford suited up in four games for the Lions, and all 16 for the Jags in 2012. Both players will primarily contribute on special teams, though Gorrer could get some run in the Lions' thin secondary.

Lions placed CB Nevin Lawson on injured reserve with a dislocated ankle, ending his season.

A fourth-round rookie, Lawson suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. Filling in at nickel back for Bill Bentley (ACL), Lawson had already played 63 snaps on defense this season. The Lions have extremely little depth in their secondary. Thanks to his draft pedigree, Lawson should get the benefit of the doubt when competing for a roster spot next summer.

Cardinals signed OLB Victor Butler.

Butler is a pass-rushing flier for a team with few edge threats. Butler was viewed as an up-and-coming player when he signed a two-year, $3 million deal with the Saints in March 2013, but missed all of last season with a torn ACL, and couldn't even make it to final cuts this summer. He's not guaranteed to stick around in the desert.
Sep 16 - 5:27 PM

Cardinals released OLB Marcus Benard.

The move clears a roster spot for OLB John Abraham, who is coming off the reserve/left squad list. Benard notched 7.5 sacks as an NFL sophomore in 2010, but hasn't been the same since an October 2011 motorcycle accident. Now 29, Benard was inactive for the Cardinals' first two games.
Sep 16 - 5:23 PM

Titans signed LB James Anderson.

He's taking the roster spot of Zach Brown, who has been sent to injured reserve with a torn pectoral. Anderson has made 59 starts over the past four seasons, but been largely ineffective. Zaviar Gooden and Wesley Woodyard will pick up Brown's lost snaps.
