Dodgers acquired LHP Alex Wood from the Marlins in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

There had been some thought that the Dodgers would try to flip Wood to the Tigers in a package for David Price, but Price is already on his way to Toronto. Wood will now simply join the starting rotation in Los Angeles behind Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Mat Latos. The 24-year-old southpaw had a 3.54 ERA and 90/36 K/BB ratio through 119 1/3 innings this season with Atlanta. He was tremendous last season.

Angels recalled RHP Cory Rasmus from Triple-A Salt Lake.

He'll take Mike Morin's spot in the Angels' bullpen. Rasmus had core muscle surgery in March and has been limited to just 10 appearances (including three starts) at the Triple-A level this year.

Dodgers acquired RHP Mat Latos from the Marlins in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Olivera is going to the Braves along with Paco Rodriguez and Zachary Bird. Latos isn't quite a Cole Hamels, Johnny Cueto, or David Price type of catch for the Dodgers, but he boasts a 2.96 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings since returning in mid-June from a knee injury. It might be a sneaky-good pickup for Los Angeles.
Jul 30 - 4:38 PM

Dodgers acquired 1B Michael Morse from the Marlins in the 13-player, three-team Mat Latos trade.

Morse doesn't fit all that well on the Dodgers' current roster and it seems possible that they might turn around and designate him for assignment to clear room for some of the other players they acquired in this massive swap. Morse, 33, was batting just .214/.277/.314 in 173 plate appearances this season for Miami.

Mike Trout (wrist) is back in Thursday's lineup against the Astros.

Trout missed the previous two games due to inflammation in his left wrist, but the hope is that it won't be a lingering issue. He's back in center field Thursday with the Angels trying to avoid a sweep.
Jul 30 - 4:34 PM

Dodgers acquired RHP Bronson Arroyo from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Atlanta acquired Arroyo from the Diamondbacks on June 20, but he'll leave the organization without throwing a single pitch in a Braves uniform. The veteran right-hander underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last July and probably isn't going to be back near full strength until late August or early September. It's a salary dump for Atlanta: Arroyo is making $9.5 million this season and carries a $4.5 million buyout on his option for 2016.
Jul 30 - 4:30 PM

Jack Curry of YES Network reports that the Yankees are set to acquire Dustin Ackley from the Mariners.

Ramon Flores and Jose Ramirez will be going back to Seattle. Ackley, 27, is batting just .215/.270/.366 with six home runs and 19 RBI over 207 plate appearances this season. While he's another option for second base, he has mostly played in the outfield in 2015.
Jul 30 - 4:27 PM

Dodgers acquired RHP Jim Johnson from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Johnson had been serving as the Braves' closer for the past month-plus and was doing very well in that role. He'll enter the Dodgers' bullpen sitting on a strong 2.25 season ERA. Arodys Vizcaino appears likely to take over ninth-inning duties for the Braves.
