Todd Frazier (hamstring) took batting practice on Thursday.

He also fielded grounders at third base. Frazier and Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) are both traveling with the team, though it's unclear if either is close to returning. The 32-year-old went on the DL with a strained hamstring earlier this month.

Yoenis Cespedes (hip) took batting practice on Thursday.

Cespedes accompanied the Mets on their road trip to Milwaukee, though the team has yet to give a firm timetable for his return. The 32-year-old slugger was hitting .255 with eight homers and 28 RBI before landing on the DL with a strained hip flexor earlier this month.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria said the team has not considered demoting Lucas Giolito.

Giolito took a beating on Thursday, giving up seven runs in 1 1/3 innings in a loss to Baltimore. Carson Fulmer, who has also struggled, was sent down last week, though Renteria said that's not likely to happen with Giolito. "I don’t foresee that at this particular time," he said. "He’s just a young man who’s gotta continue to minimize the emotional aspect of crossing from preparation into the game and staying focused, relaxed and hammer the zone with strikes." The right-hander will take a sluggish 7.53 ERA into his next start Tuesday at Cleveland.

Alex Gordon (hip, neck) has been scratched from Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Gordon had been slated to start in left field and bat sixth, but instead he'll get the night off. He's still dealing with stiffness in his hip and neck after making a great diving catch in Wednesday's win against the Cardinals. Jon Jay, who had been slated to start in center field, will shift over to left with Whit Merrifield getting the nod in center. Consider Gordon day-to-day.

Stephen Piscotty doubled in two of the Athletics' four runs Thursday in a win over the Mariners.

The hit off Felix Hernandez is the only one Piscotty has collected in his last four games, but it was a big one, giving him his first multi-RBI game since April 17. He's still a long way from having value in mixed leagues, but hopefully he gets there at some point.
May 24 - 6:34 PM

Blake Treinen got a four-out save against the Mariners on Thursday.

Treinen has gotten at least four outs in six of his 11 saves this year. He's on quite the strikeout tear right now, having fanned 10 batters over 4 2/3 innings in his last four appearances. His ERA sits at 1.08.
May 24 - 6:31 PM

Mark Canha went 0-for-3 on Thursday and is 9-for-58 over his last 17 games.

Canha earned a much bigger role than anticipated with a fast start after his April 8 callip, but he's now been bad for just as long as he was good and his overall OPS is down to .764. He should see a substantial reduction in playing time against righties.
May 24 - 6:29 PM

Jean Segura had three hits Thursday to raise his average to .317.

Segura is on pace to score 100 runs, which isn't much of a surprise. What is surprising is that he's also on pace for 100 RBI, with 33 in 48 games to date. That's probably not going to last, but he figures to remain a big-time fantasy asset.
