Jose Reyes went 1-for-5 with an RBI triple in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Reyes showed that despite his age (33), he still brings a strong speed element to play whenever he steps to the dish. In Sunday's case, he collected an RBI triple against Marlins starter Jose Urena in the third inning. Since the Mets called him up on July 5, the embattled third baseman is slashing .242/.284/.516 with three homers, eight RBI and three steals over the course of 62 at-bats. He has quietly picked up hits in eight of his last 10 games. He is worth a shot in NL-only and deeper mixed-league formats at this juncture.

Martin Prado went 3-for-4 with a trio of singles in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Only two other Marlins (Christian Yelich, Adeiny Hechavarria) secured hits on the afternoon. And only Prado managed a multi-hit effort. In total, the team collected five singles. It was that kind of a game for the Marlins. For his part, Prado is slashing .322/.373/.415 with 21 doubles, 35 RBI and 41 runs scored over 367 at-bats. While the veteran infielder isn't a particularly sexy fantasy option, he at least offers a very dependable average.

Marlins placed LHP Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 21, with a left elbow sprain.

Chen having an elbow issue was first reported by SiriusXM's Craig Mish. Manager Don Mattingly said that the club is hopeful the injury isn't serious, but it sounds like they might not know for sure until after Chen is examined further. Jarred Cosart has placed Chen in the rotation for the time being, but the Marlins are expected to seek rotation help before the trade deadline.

Jose Urena turned in a tidy performance in Sunday's loss to the Mets, surrendering one run on four hits over six innings.

Urena struck out four without walking a batter. The lone run to score on his watch came when Jose Reyes sped around the bases for an RBI triple in the third inning. This was Urena's second start of the season. Through his first 11 1/3 innings out of the rotation, he has allowed just one run. The 24-year-old right-hander has no fantasy value as a reliever (his previous role this season), but would start to become an interesting possibility for those in deeper NL-only formats should he continue to pitch well as a starter. A home date with the Cardinals surfaces next on his schedule.
Jul 24 - 4:17 PM

Steven Matz was sharp in Sunday's win over the Marlins, firing six shutout innings.

Matz scattered four hits, walked two and struck out six on the afternoon. It was a nice rebound outing for the youngster, who surrendered four runs to the Cubs last time he toed the rubber. The 25-year-old southpaw has pitched to a 3.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 101/26 K/BB ratio across 107 innings. A home date with the Rockies shows next on his schedule.

Addison Russell exited Sunday's game against the Brewers with a bruised left heel.

He fouled a ball off the heel Saturday and it got progressively sore on him Sunday. The Cubs are saying his removal was precautionary, so consider Russell day-to-day. Javier Baez is likely to fill in at shortstop for any amount of time that Russell might miss.
Jul 24 - 4:03 PM

Dillon Gee is expected to start on Tuesday against the Angels.

Gee was swapped out in favor of Brian Flynn for one turn in the rotation, but it appears the Royals will go back to Gee now. The right-hander holds a 4.19 ERA over 19 appearances -- five starts -- for Kansas City this season.
Jul 24 - 4:00 PM

Edwin Encarnacion went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners.

Encarnacion connected for a solo shot against Mariners starter Wade Miley in the fourth inning. The slugger has now launched 27 dingers and driven in 87 runs. Four of those homers have come over his last eight games. He is rapidly approaching his fifth consecutive season of at least 30 homers. The way he has been swinging the stick of late, he might hit that mark by the end of July.
