Randal Grichuk (back) played catch Tuesday for the first time since being placed on the DL.

Grichuk also played catch for a second day in a row. He's not going to be ready when eligible on May 2, but it shouldn't be long for the 23-year-old outfielder. He's been out since April 18 with a back strain.

Brian Dozier is not in the Twins' lineup Tuesday.

It's just a day off. Eduardo Escobar is at second base and Danny Santana is back in the leadoff spot for the Twins, who are taking on Tigers righty Anibal Sanchez.
Apr 28 - 4:32 PM

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Tuesday that the club has discussed moving Aaron Sanchez back to the bullpen.

It doesn't appear that a change is imminent, as Gibbons also said that they "talk about a lot of things," but it's clearly on the table as a possibility. The 22-year-old enjoyed a lot of success out of the bullpen as a rookie last season, but he owns a 5.03 ERA and 16/14 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings over his first four starts in 2015. He figures to get another couple of chances, but Marco Estrada could eventually replace him in the starting rotation. Sanchez might actually have more fantasy value out of the bullpen, as he would be an immediate threat for saves.
Apr 28 - 4:23 PM

Greg Holland threw a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list on April 18 with a Grade 1 pectoral strain.

Royals manager Ned Yost said after the workout that he thinks Holland could be ready by early next week. Wade Davis has been filling in at closer for Kansas City and has been fantastic, but the job is Holland's. He had converted four saves in four opportunities without allowing a run before suffering the pectoral injury.
Apr 28 - 4:20 PM

Shane Victorino (hamstring) could begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Victorino landed on the disabled list over the weekend with a right hamstring strain, but he has already increased his running program. The Red Sox called up Jackie Bradley, Jr. on Tuesday, but Brock Holt should continue to benefit the most from Victorino's absence.
Apr 28 - 4:17 PM

Max Scherzer (thumb) was able to throw off a mound Tuesday without issue.

Scherzer had to be scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night against the Braves after injuring his thumb during an at-bat last Thursday, but he expects to return to the Nationals' starting rotation later this week. The $210 million right-hander owns a 1.26 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 29/4 K/BB ratio through 28 2/3 innings with Washington.
Apr 28 - 4:12 PM

Jon Jay will bat leadoff Tuesday against the Phillies.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is shaking things up in an effort to get some more offense. Matt Carpenter will slide down to the No. 2 spot while Jason Heyward (hamstring) is back in the lineup and will bat sixth. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Kolten Wong is still batting eighth.
Apr 28 - 4:09 PM

Gregory Polanco (groin) is not in the Pirates' starting lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Polanco tweaked a muscle in his groin over the weekend and was a late scratch from Monday's series opener at Wrigley Field. He is considered day-to-day.
