Angel Pagan will miss a minimum of 4-5 days with a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring.

Pagan strained his hamstring while running the bases on Sunday. As of now, he's expected to avoid the disabled list. The Giants will go with a combination of Mac Williamson and Gregor Blanco in left field while he's sidelined.

Glen Perkins is still focused on strengthening his shoulder.

In other words, he hasn't resumed throwing, so there's really no news since the most recent update on him. He's still quite a ways off from rejoining the Twins' bullpen. Kevin Jepsen will continue to hold down the closer role for now.
May 2 - 5:41 PM

Kyle Gibson (shoulder) has begun some light throwing.

Gibson hasn't pitched since April 22 due to a right shoulder sprain. He still has some hurdles to cross, but a return in mid-May appears within reach.
May 2 - 5:39 PM

Carlos Gomez (ribs) did some baseball activity on Monday.

It's good news for Gomez, who will miss his third straight game Monday with soreness in his left rib cage. Astros manager A.J. Hinch is optimistic that he'll be able to return during the team's series against the Twins this week.
May 2 - 5:37 PM

Gordon Beckham (hamstring) did some running on Sunday.

Gordon strained his left hamstring in mid-April, but it appears that he's moving closer to a minor league rehab assignment. The Braves demoted Jace Peterson to the minors on Monday, so there could be opportunity with the big club once he's ready to return.
May 2 - 5:34 PM

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said that Jason Heyward is out of Monday's lineup with a sore right wrist.

There's no indication that it's serious, but it provides more context on his struggles. The high-priced outfielder went 0-for-17 on the team's recent homestand and is batting just .211/.317/.256 overall.
May 2 - 5:28 PM

Lance McCullers (shoulder) threw 62 pitches over 4 2/3 innings Monday in an extended spring training game.

McCullers will still have to make it through a bullpen session, but the expectation is that he'll resume a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday. It's unclear how many starts he'll need before joining the Astros. His rehab from shoulder discomfort already had to be put on hold once.
May 2 - 5:23 PM

Chris Devenski will start Thursday against the Mariners.

Devenski made his major league debut Saturday against the Athletics and gave up two runs over five innings. The Astros made no promises beyond that, but the performance was enough for him to keep a rotation spot over Scott Feldman in the short-term. He's worth keeping around in AL-only leagues for now.
