Khiry Robinson missed practice this week with an undisclosed injury.

The Saints don’t expect the injury to affect his Week 1 status. Robinson isn’t more than an early-down backup to Mark Ingram, though there’s rumblings C.J. Spiller (knee scope) may not be ready for the opener. Robinson should go undrafted in 12-team leagues.

Colts.com’s Kevin Bowen views rookie Josh Robinson as the No. 3 running back.

Dan Herron is Frank Gore’s backup, but Robinson has shown enough this preseason to move ahead of Vick Ballard. The Colts would figure to use a committee if Gore went down, with Robinson a candidate for inside work. Robinson will make Ballard or Zurlon Tipton expendable.

Dorial Green-Beckham didn’t play any snaps in the Titans third preseason game.

Green-Beckham was active after missing time with an ankle injury, but didn’t see the field. Coach Ken Whisenhunt views Green-Beckham as a work in progress, making his chances of an early-season impact unlikely. The Titans slowplayed Bishop Sankey for a 29-year-old Shonn Greene last year, and appear to be doing the same with DGB. Harry Douglas and a broken-down Hakeem Nicks are expected to open the year opposite Kendall Wright.

Jaguars RG Brandon Linder (toe) is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Linder is day to day, and could have played through his toe issue if it were the regular season. It's good news for Blake Bortles. Linder is one of the top pass-blocking guards in the league.

The Bengals' official website said the "growing sense" is WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) will begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.

The Bengals have been hopeful Burfict would be ready Week 1. If he starts on the PUP, Burfict would not be eligible to play until after the team's Week 7 bye. Veteran A.J. Hawk has started the first two preseason games at weakside linebacker.

Saints QB Luke McCown will get an extended look in the Saints' third preseason game.

Drew Brees is only expected to play "a handful" of snaps before ceding the reigns to McCown. The news suggests McCown is well ahead of Ryan Griffin for the team's No. 2 job. With rookie Garrett Grayson almost guaranteed a roster spot, Griffin's roster spot is in danger.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said DT Dominique Easley has "had a real good training camp."

"He's improved his technique, his reactions, recognition," Belichick said. "Just being able to get out on the field and take those reps in practice and improve has helped him get better." Easley was limited to less than 25 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps last year before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. With Vince Wilfork now in Houston, Easley needs to have a healthy and productive season.

Giants will bring in free agent S Stevie Brown for a workout.

This was widely expected after the Texans cut Brown on Friday. Brown started eight games for the Giants last year, and New York has a desperate need at safety. He should be signed early next week.
