Hisashi Iwakuma (lat) had to leave Tuesday's rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma due to a blister on his pitching hand.

He pitched well before exiting, allowing just one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six. Iwakuma's splitter has often given him blister issues, but it's unclear at this point if this is a notable setback. Tuesday's rehab start likely was going to be his last, although the Mariners hadn't confirmed as much. More should be known about Iwakuma on Wednesday.

Espinosa sparked a four-run first inning with an RBI double. He later scored on a Wilson Ramos single. He singled to lead off the third inning and eventually scored following A.J. Pierzynski's throwing error. Espinosa had been slumping, batting .107 (3-for-28) since June 20. He's batting .259/.336/.438 overall with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 37 runs scored.

Juan Uribe homered in the ninth inning to prevent the Braves from suffering a shutout loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

The Braves entered the ninth inning down 6-0, but Uribe at least saved his team the indignity of a shutout, launching a solo home run to left field off of former Brave David Carpenter. Uribe has homered twice in his last three games, but has mostly struggled this season. Including his time with the Dodgers, he has five home runs, 16 RBI, and a .279/.333/.397 triple-slash line.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) could still be activated on Friday even after sitting out Tuesday's rehab game because of fatigue.

"I guess the running we've done the last couple of days has kind of worn him out," Girardi said Tuesday. "And it's not only in the one leg, it's in both legs. So we'll give him a day off today and hopefully he's back in there tomorrow." Ellsbury went 0-for-3 in his first rehab contest on Monday but needs to play at least a game or two in center field before being activated.
