Giants pitching prospect Tyler Beede scattered five hits and one run over seven innings Tuesday in a loss for Double-A Richmond.

He retired eight hitters in a row at one point. Beede is now 1-3 with a 4.15 ERA in five starts since getting called up from High-A San Jose. The five strikeouts Beede recorded Tuesday were his most since June 12 versus Erie. Opponents have hit .243 off the right-hander this season.

Yankees purchased the contract of OF Taylor Dugas from Double-A Trenton.

Dugas is a .281/.402/.347 career hitter in 338 minor league games. The 25-year-old is not fantasy relevant.

Yankees sent RHP Esmil Rogers outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rogers has a rough 6.27 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 33 innings of long relief this season for the Yankees. This is the second time he's been pulled off the 40-man roster.

Andrew Miller (forearm) threw 20 pitches off a mound Wednesday without issue.

Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild said after the workout that there is a possibility Miller returns before the All-Star break. Miller has been out since June 10 with a strained left forearm and Dellin Betances has been perfect so far in four fill-in save opportunities. There's not a clear picture of how this will all shake out.

Royals 3B prospect Balibino Fuenmayor leads the Texas League with 15 home runs this season.

Fuenmayor has emerged as a legitimate Triple Crown candidate. He's second in RBI (50) and batting average (.348) and leads the league in total bases (165), slugging (.585) and OPS (.966). The 25-year-old has hit .375 during his six-game hitting streak and doesn't seem to be slowing down. Fuenmayor doesn't have much left to prove in Double-A. The next stop before the majors is Triple-A Omaha.

Cubs 3B prospect Jeimer Candelario broke out with four hits Tuesday in a win for High-A Myrtle Beach.

It was Candelario's third career three-hit game and his first since May 20, 2013. The 21-year-old started last season at High-A Daytona but was sent back to Low-A Kane County after batting just .193 in 218 at-bats. There's no danger of that happening this season. If anything, the 21-year-old could be headed for a promotion.

Justin Smoak went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in the Blue Jays' 11-2 defeat of the Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon at Rogers Centre.

Smoak cranked a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning and a solo shot in the bottom of the third. He then added a single in the bottom of the seventh. The 28-year-old first baseman is having a quietly tremendous season, now with an .849 OPS, seven home runs, and 24 RBI in 62 games.

Aroldis Chapman tossed a perfect ninth inning Wednesday in a win over the Twins to record his 16th save of the season.

Chapman was given the task of protecting a one-run lead and had no trouble doing so, getting a weak popout and a strikeout before Billy Hamilton ended things with a diving catch in shallow center field. The fireballing left-hander is having another dominant season, as he's been scored upon just once in his last 10 appearances and has converted 16 of 17 save chances.
