Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) did not play in Tuesday's rehab game with High-A Tampa as scheduled due to "general fatigue," according to Yankees manager Joe Girardi.

It's obviously not ideal, but at least it's not a significant setbacks. Ellsbury had been slated for activation from the disabled list as soon as Friday, but he could be pushed back a bit now.

The Athletics have signed first-round shortstop Richie Martin.

There's no word yet on what his signing bonus will be, but the recommended slot value for the No. 20 overall pick was $2.214 million. Martin is a true shortstop but doesn't offer a whole lot of pop, although he does have a chance to hit for average.

Oscar Hernandez (hand) will be activated from the disabled list this weekend.

Hernandez, a Rule 5 pick, has been out all season with a broken left hamate bone. Jarrod Saltalamacchia has hit just .184/.293/.306 since joining the D'Backs, so the club could designate him for assignment if they don't want to carry three catchers.

Josh Collmenter is expected to start on Saturday against the Rockies.

The Diamondbacks need a fill-in after sending Allen Webster to the minors. It will just be a spot start for Collmenter, as Patrick Corbin (elbow) is due back next week. Collmenter was demoted from the rotation earlier this month and holds a 5.09 ERA over 15 appearances -- 12 starts -- this season.

Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) was scratched from Tuesday's rehab game with High-A Tampa.

There's no word yet on what caused Ellsbury to be scratched. He went 0-for-3 in his first rehab contest on Monday from the designated hitter spot and was slated to play center field Tuesday. The Yankees should have an update on his status shortly.
Jun 30 - 6:31 PM

Corey Hart (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Hart is eligible for activation from the disabled list in a week and should be ready at that time. He's been out with a left shoulder impingement.
Jun 30 - 6:15 PM

Freddie Freeman (wrist) might be held out until after the All-Star break.

The Braves had been optimistic about getting him back before the break, but that's looking unlikely now. Freeman hasn't had a setback with his right wrist, but it makes sense to give him a little extra time. "We were hoping we could get him shortly after the 15 days, but I think it’s going to be a little longer than that," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Not quite sure how much longer. We had our fingers crossed and were optimistic to get him (then or soon after), but I think it’s going to be little longer."

Robert Murray of BaseballEssential.com reports that the Braves and Mariners are the "frontrunners" to sign Erik Kratz.

Kratz elected free agency on Monday after clearing waivers. His defense isn't great, but the 35-year-old has some pop and wouldn't be a bad backup catcher for someone.
