Chris Coghlan (neck) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's Cactus League game.

Coghlan's out with a stiff neck. It had not previously been an issue this spring, though he was dealing with a leg injury in the middle of March. Assuming nothing serious, he should be ready for Opening Day.

Fox Sports' Jon Morosi has reported that the Reds and Johnny Cueto have not made progress in extension talks.

Cueto will make $10 million dollars this season and is slated to hit free agency in the coming winter. He was the runner-up for the NL Cy Young in 2014. The Reds' ace missed a recent portion of spring training to attend to a private matter in the Dominican Republic, but that has no bearing on his extension talks.

White Sox reassigned RHP Jesse Crain (shoulder) to minor league camp.

Crain's been dealing with a cranky shoulder over the last few weeks. He'll continue his rehab at the minor league level. The righty hasn't thrown off the mound since March 18 and has said that he doesn't want to rush his recovery.

White Sox reassigned LHP Carlos Rodon to minor league camp.

This was an expected move. Rodon is 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 11 and 1/3 innings this spring, but the team recently made it clear that they want Rodon to at least start the season at Triple-A Charlotte. Should he be called up mid-season, he'll achieve immediate relevance in mixed leagues.

Rangers optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Round Rock.

Peguero slashed .350/.435/.500 over 46 plate appearances this spring. In regular season play, his numbers have never come close to approaching these, as he's a career .196/.245/.379 hitter. He has enough power (30 home runs in Triple-A last season) that the Rangers will likely give him his share of chances to prove that he's more than a Quadruple-A player.

Joey Gallo underwent an MRI on his left heel on Wednesday.

Gallo will visit Dr. John Crates, a foot specialist, on Thursday. The highly touted prospect didn't seem too concerned about the injury, but it's one to keep an eye on nonetheless. The injury is being termed as a "bruised left heel." Gallo is one of the top prospects in the game and mashed 42 home runs in the minors last season.

Astros placed RHP Josh Fields on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with a right groin strain.

Fields is progressing in his recovery, but has not thrown off the mound in the last week. Once he begins throwing off the mound, it will be easier for the team to assess how quickly the right-hander might move toward major league readiness. As of now, there's no timetable for his return.

Kyuji Fujikawa felt tightness in his groin and will be shut down for several days.

This opens up the possibility of a DL stint to start the season. The positive news here is that Fujikawa has not experienced any discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow. The Rangers signed the pitcher over the off-season and were hoping he might serve a set-up role with the team. If Fujikawa is sidelined for any amount of time, Jon Edwards will likely step into the eighth inning role.
