MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that the Rockies have expressed interest in Rangers catcher Jonathan Lucroy.

Colorado has also been connected to Tigers catcher Alex Avila and Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki. Lucroy is batting just .240/.293/.339 with four home runs and 26 RBI in 75 games this season, but he was an All-Star in 2016 and is only owed around $1.5 million. The 31-year-old catcher can become a free agent in November.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Cubs "remain interested" in Tigers starter Justin Verlander.

Morosi adds, however, that Chicago has shown reluctance to pay the $60 million that Verlander is still owed on a contract that runs through 2019. The 34-year-old right-hander has posted an underwhelming 4.50 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 124 innings this season, after finishing with a 3.04 ERA last year. Detroit is going to have to eat some cash in order to find a willing trade partner before the July 31 deadline.

Astros sent LHP Ashur Tolliver outright to Triple-A Fresno.

This move pushes him off the 40-man roster. Tolliver, 29, holds a 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 9 2/3 career innings at the major league level.

Alex Bregman was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Phillies with discomfort in his right hamstring.

Bregman tripled and scored in the top of the third inning before getting lifted. The young third baseman entered play Tuesday with a red-hot .356/.457/.627 batting line in 70 plate appearances since July 4.

Joe Kelly (hamstring) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday at Fenway Park.

Kelly will go through a similar workout on Friday before possibly embarking on a short minor league rehab assignment. The hard-throwing right-hander has been on the disabled list since July 12 because of a left hamstring strain.
Jul 25 - 8:08 PM

Ryan Dull (knee) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Thursday.

Dull joined up with the Athletics on Tuesday after throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings Monday in his final rehab appearance with Triple-A Nashville. The right-hander has been sidelined since late May with a right knee strain.
Jul 25 - 8:01 PM

Byron Buxton (groin) was not activated from the disabled list Tuesday due to a migraine.

But he told reporters that he's feeling better, so the move could come before Wednesday night's series finale against the Dodgers. Buxton has been on the 10-day disabled list since July 15 because of a left groin strain.

Brewers acquired RHP Anthony Swarzak from the White Sox for OF/3B Ryan Cordell.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports was first to report word of the swap. Swarzak arrives in Milwaukee as a reliable setup option for closer Corey Knebel, after registering a 2.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 52/13 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings this season on the south side of Chicago. The 31-year-old right-hander can become a free agent in November.
