Jim Johnson worked around a single and walk allowed in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday in San Diego for his 16th save of the season.

Johnson needed 22 pitches to make it through the frame, but he was able to strike out the side to get out of trouble. He has struck out five batters over his past two scoreless innings after a rough patch against the Giants last week. It appears he has ironed things out and is back on track.
Jun 28 - 1:56 AM

Sean Newcomb scattered six hits with a walk over six scoreless innings while striking out eight batters in a victory in San Diego on Tuesday.

Newcomb threw 68 of his 103 pitches for strikes to earn his first major league victory. He made his debut on June 10 and has been masterful through four starts, posting a minuscule 1.48 ERA. The Braves look like they made a wise trade when they shipped Andrelton Simmons to the Angels for the southpaw.
Jun 28 - 1:54 AM

Cody Bellinger finished 1-for-2 with a run scored, RBI and two walks in Tuesday's win against the Angels.

The bad news is that Bellinger is without a home run in six of his past seven games, but the good news is that he has three games without a strikeout over his past four outings while drawing three walks. The rookie will cool off in the power department, as that's just inevitable, but he seems to be developing a keener eye at the plate and is finding other ways to get on base. His first two months are nothing short of remarkable.
Jun 28 - 1:47 AM

Joc Pederson finished 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's win against the Angels.

Pederson has been on fire since returning from the 7-day concussion disabled list on June 13, going 15-for-47 (.319) with five doubles, five homers and 10 RBI across 15 games. He has raised his average from .193 to a respectable .237, re-emerging as a solid fantasy option.
Jun 28 - 1:42 AM

Kenta Maeda allowed just four hits with no walks while adding six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in a win against the Angels on Tuesday.

Maeda threw 64 of his 92 pitches for strikes to run his record to 6-3 and lower his ERA to 4.15. After a shaky April he has really righted the ship, going 2-0 with a 3.63 ERA in four May starts and 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA and a save over five June appearances (three starts). The Swiss Army knife is proving very valuable to manager Dave Roberts and fantasy owners lately.
Jun 28 - 1:38 AM

Nick Ahmed was diagnosed with a small fracture in his right hand after being hit by a pitch Tuesday.

With a DL stint on the way for Ahmed, it looks like Ketel Marte will get a shot in Arizona, which will probably lead to more outfield time for Chris Owings.
Jun 28 - 1:34 AM

Luis Valbuena was hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts in Tuesday's road loss against the Dodgers.

Valbuena missed the first month of the season due to a hamstring strain and he just hasn't been able to get on track in two months since. The veteran has been under the Mendoza line since May 17, going just 18 for his past 113 at-bats (.159). There are very few things for fantasy owners to like about Valbuena at the moment.
Jun 28 - 1:28 AM

David Peralta hit a game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday before the Diamondbacks edged the Cardinals 6-5 in 10 innings.

Chris Herrmann won it with a single in the 10th. The Diamondbacks got four of their six runs in the final three innings. Peralta's homer off Seung-Hwan Oh was his eighth of the year. He's still batting a robust .324.
