Jordy Mercer returned to action on Tuesday April 22.

Khris Davis returned to action on Tuesday April 22.

Jonathan Papelbon fired a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday in a 3-2, 10-inning win against the Dodgers for his sixth save of the season.

The veteran closer had the flu on Monday, but wasn't needed in a 7-0 victory against Los Angeles. He showed no ill-effects 24 hours later, needing only seven pitches to turn out the lights. Paps retired the first two batters before Yasiel Puig slapped a single to right. Hanley Ramirez lofted a harmless fly to second shortly thereafter to end the affair. Papelbon's ERA sits at a so-so 3.24, but he's hurled eight scoreless appearances around April 2's three-run blown save against the Rangers.
Apr 23 - 2:04 AM

Ben Revere went 4-for-5 with a run scored and a steal in a 10-inning win versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.

All four hits were singles, which is par for the course with Revere. The speedy but punchless outfielder is now slashing .300/.319/.329 through 18 games, a pinch above his career averages. Revere has never hit an MLB homer, but he's sixth in the NL with six steals after swiping 96 the past three seasons.

Dee Gordon was cleared of a possible concussion after Tuesday's game.

Gordon left the contest after hitting his head on the Phillies' Jayson Nix's knee when he slid into third base on steal in the seventh inning. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that the second baseman looked a little "dazed" but passed the necessary tests. Still, it wouldn't be a surprise if the club gave him a day.

Pedro Figueroa left Tuesday's appearance against the Athletics with soreness in his left elbow.

An MRI is surely forthcoming. Figueroa's lone pitch of the night hit Josh Reddick.
Apr 23 - 1:50 AM

A.J. Burnett surrendered two runs over 6 2/3 frames, striking out five, in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

The veteran right-hander walked one and surrendered five hits. He aided his own cause at the dish, going 3-for-3 with a run scored. Burnett was in line for the victory, but he couldn't manage to work around a Dee Gordon double and steal in the seventh. With two outs, Justin Turner singled the speedster home to tie the game 2-2, and skipper Ryne Sandberg summoned reliever Jacob Diekman. Burnett, 0-1 with a 2.73 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, has a date in Arizona against the sinking Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Apr 23 - 1:49 AM

Hyun-Jin Ryu surrendered two runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Tuesday.

The South Korean southpaw struck out three, walked two, and allowed nine hits. Believe it or not, but this was only his second start out of six where he'd allowed so much as one earned run. Ryu owns a spectacular 2.12 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 34 innings despite having coughed up eight runs (six earned) in just two innings against the Giants on April 4. He'll play host to the Rockies on Sunday.
