Lance Lynn took his first ever loss in April after allowing three runs -- two earned -- in 6 1/3 innings Thursday against the Mets.

The Cardinals' offensive malaise finally got to Lynn, who had been 4-0 with a 3.42 ERA this season and 12-0 lifetime in 13 April starts. Lynn struck out nine, so it was hardly a bad day for him. However, he was responsible for the unearned run, as he committed a throwing error to start the sixth. Oddly enough, he also took advantage of a Bartolo Colon error to reach base in the fifth.

Yankees optioned RHP Preston Claiborne to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Claiborne threw 32 pitches in relief of Michael Pineda on Wednesday night, so it's no surprise to see him head back to the minors. He should be back at some point soon.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk Thursday versus the Cardinals.

Murphy's eighth multihit game of the season raised his average to .291. However, he's still looking for his first homer after 86 at-bats. Last year, he had 13 homers in 658 at-bats for the Mets.

Yankees optioned INF Dean Anna to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Anna was sent out in order for the Yankees to add some bullpen depth. The 27-year-old made the Opening Day roster and hit .136 (3-for-22) with one home run and one double in 12 games.

Yankees transferred RHP Ivan Nova from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot for Bruce Billings on the 40-man roster. Nova has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and is likely headed for season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Kolten Wong had two of the Cardinals' four hits and their only run scored before being removed in a double-switch Thursday.

It's the newcomers -- Wong and Peter Bourjos -- who have been the fall guys for the Cardinals' offensive slump. The established regulars can't be sat down with any frequency, but the younger guys can and have been; Wong's start today was just his second in five days. He's worthy of more consistent playing time, and he should get it as his bat comes around.

Allen Craig went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is without an RBI in his last eight games.

Craig's rep is that he's a stud with RISP. However, he isn't getting many opportunities there with the Cardinals in a collective slump and he hasn't capitalized when he does get a shot, going 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits. In today's loss, he led off the inning in three of his four at-bats. Fantasy leaguers should stick with him, of course, but it's been a pretty brutal start.

The Rangers are hopeful that Shin-Soo Choo (ankle) can avoid the disabled list.

Choo hasn't played since he injured his left ankle while awkwardly stepping on the first base bag on Monday, but X-rays came back negative an an MRI ruled out a high ankle sprain. He has reported some improvement since, so things are looking up. Still, it's unclear when he'll be able to return to the starting lineup.
