Luis Valbuena went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's victory over the Orioles.

Valbuena tied the game up in the fifth inning with a solo home run off of Ubaldo Jimenez. He also scored the go-ahead run in a four-run seventh inning. 10 of Valbuena's 11 home runs this season have been of the solo variety. Along with 19 RBI, he's hitting .196/.260/.413.

Jason Castro left Monday's game versus the Orioles with a bruised right knee.

Castro was hit by a pitch on the knee in the fifth inning and eventually lifted for a pinch-hitter in the seventh. The Astros could have more on his status after the game.

Marlins optioned RHP Steve Cishek to Double-A Jacksonville.

It's been a stunning fall for a guy who has been one of the better relievers in the National League over the previous four season. Sending Cishek down to work on his mechanics in a less pressurized situation could be the best thing, though. Cishek has been better of late after being removed from the closer role, but he still holds an ugly 6.98 ERA and 1.86 WHIP with 10 walks over 19 1/3 innings.

Kris Bryant went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI double as the Cubs beat the Marlins by a 5-1 score on Monday.

Bryant walked and scored in the first inning, then knocked in the Cubs' fourth run with a double in the seventh. The rookie continues to perform at the plate, now batting .280/.396/.480 with seven home runs, 33 RBI, and five stolen bases. His 33 RBI, by the way, is best on the Cubs.

Starlin Castro slugged his fourth home run of the season in a 1-for-4 effort in Monday's win over the Marlins.

Castro gave the Cubs some extra breathing room as his eighth-inning solo homer off of Bryan Morris boosted his club's lead to 5-1. Along with four homers, the shortstop has 25 RBI and a mediocre .265/.299/.345 batting line.

Jose Urena, making his second career start in the majors, notched a quality start but lost after giving up three runs in six innings to the Cubs on Monday.

Urena was immediately in trouble in the first inning, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, but he was able to rebound and limit the Cubs to only two runs. He allowed only four hits on the night while walking three and striking out four. Urena can be ignored for fantasy purposes for now. He'll make his next start at Coors Field against the Rockies.

Jason Hammel struck out 11 batters and allowed only one run in 6 2/3 innings of work en route to a win against the Marlins on Monday.

11 punch-outs marks a career-high for Hammel. He had previously struck out 10 batters on three occasions, last occuring in June 2012. The Marlins' only run came home in the third inning when Giancarlo Stanton stole third base and scored on catcher Miguel Montero's throwing error. Hammel surrendered only five hits in total while walking none. He boasts a sterling 2.82 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP and a 69/7 K/BB ratio over 67 innings this season. He'll look to keep it going in a weekend road start versus the Nationals.

Rockies outfield prospect David Dahl underwent a splenectomy on Monday.

Had Dahl waited for his lacerated spleen to heal he likely would be missed the remainder of the season. Having it removed means he'll make it back this year, although it's unclear when that is likely to happen. Ranked before the season by Baseball America as the No. 22 prospect in the game, Dahl has batted .269/.296/.379 with three homers and 14 steals at Double-A New Britain this season.
