Padres recalled LHP Frank Garces from Triple-A El Paso.

Garces is being called back up to fill the spot vacated by Brandon Morrow (shoulder). During his six-game stretch with the Padres, he allowed just one run in 5 2/3 innings. Expect Garces to yo-yo back and forth between El Paso and San Diego this season, as he offers a solid bullpen arm.

Padres placed Brandon Morrow on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Big blow for Morrow and the Padres. The right-hander had been superb through the first month of the 2015 campaign, posting a 2.73 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 23/7 K/BB ratio in 33 innings. Injuries have limited Morrow to fewer than 20 starts in each of the last two seasons. There's no current timetable for his return.

Leonys Martin is wearing a brace on his left wrist and is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Martin injured his left wrist on Monday while trying to make a catch on a Jose Altuve liner. X-rays on the injury came back negative and the team is not currently planning on placing Martin on the disabled list. Delino DeShields Jr. will man center field and bat eighth for the Rangers in Tuesday's game.

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) is expected to throw off the mound on Wednesday.

Ramirez is currently on the mend from right shoulder inflammation. There's no structural damage in the shoulder. The right-hander has been throwing on flat ground and looks ready to move forward in his rehab. While there's no timetable for his return, once he throws off the mound the team should have a better gauge for how long his recovery might take.

The Chicago Cubs are still determining whether Justin Grimm (forearm) needs another rehab outing.

Grimm has been sidelined with right forearm inflammation since the beginning of the season. He's currently on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa and appears to be close to a return, though the Cubs are still deciding whether he'll need another rehab appearance.

John Jaso - DH - Rays

John Jaso (wrist) has not started participating in baseball activities yet.

Jason bruised his left wrist sliding into third base on April 6. General manager Matthew Silverman said, "It's a slowly progressing healing process for John." The catcher was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on April 27 and will be eligible to return in early June, though given his current progress, a June return is not a certainty.
May 5 - 6:26 PM

Coco Crisp (elbow) is undergoing treatment for his elbow on Tuesday and the team will make a decision on his return date come Wednesday.

Crisp could return as early as this week. Manager Bob Melvin said that the decision will be made on Wednesday. Crisp's been rehabbing at High-A as he recovers from early April elbow surgery. Don't be surprised if you see him in the lineup for the team's weekend series against the Mariners.

Jordan Walden is seeking a second opinion for his right biceps inflammation.

Walden had MRI's on his shoulder and bicep. He was complaining about shoulder stiffness on Saturday. While the hope is that there's no structural damage to the arm and that this is merely inflammation, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak has indicated that there's at least some concern this could be more serious. Sam Tuivailala has taken Walden's spot in the bullpen.
