Hanley Ramirez hit a solo home run against the White Sox on Tuesday.

The homer was just his second of the season, giving him 16 RBI. He's got a modest eight-game hitting streak in which he's 11-for-34 (.323). That stretch has helped him run his overall line up to .284/.306/.412.

David Robertson worked a perfect ninth inning against the Red Sox on Tuesday to earn his ninth save.

Robertson has now allowed a lone run in 12 appearances on the year. The right-hander is asserting his spot among the league's elite closers, owning a 0.73 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 15/4 K/BB ratio on the year.

Rougned Odor led off the game with a homer and also added a single in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Odor took Marco Estrada deep to kick off the festivities, and the Rangers made it hold up until a blown save in the ninth inning. The young second baseman has lifted his average from .234 to .277 over the last six games and has moved into the leadoff spot for the Rangers.

Carson Smith worked a perfect inning against the White Sox in his 2016 debut on Tuesday.

Smith, who was activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday, notched a strikeout and induced two groundouts, needing just nine pitches. Smith missed a month with a strained flexor tendon but should be an important member of the Red Sox bullpen moving forward.

Jeff Samardzija disposed of the Reds with ease Tuesday, recording nine strikeouts over eight frames of one-run ball in a 3-1 victory.

Shark served up a longball to Adam Duvall, but it was a solo shot and he allowed just three hits and one walk on the night. Samardzija has been a bit up and down so far this season as he often can, but he's ultimately produced with four wins, a 3.32 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 35/12 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings. He'll try to keep it going this weekend at home versus the Rockies.
May 3 - 11:23 PM

Santiago Casilla converted his sixth save of the season with a scoreless appearance in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Casilla relieved Javier Lopez after Lopez led off the ninth by hitting Joey Votto with a pitch. The Giants closer promptly induced a double-play ball and then got a groundout to end it. Casilla has blown two saves but sports a 1.69 ERA and 0.75 WHIP over his first 11 appearances.

Blue Jays recalled LHP Chad Girodo from Triple-A Buffalo.

Girodo will give the Blue Jays a fresh bullpen arm. The left-hander spent one day in the majors late last month and threw two scoreless innings of relief. He has very good career numbers in the minor leagues.
May 3 - 11:18 PM

Aaron Nola pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out seven, in a 1-0 shutout of the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Nola's stat line looked eerily similar to the one he put up against the Nationals in his last start, allowing just two hits and a walk while fanning seven. It was a continuation of a coming out party for the 22-year-old, who has followed up on a promising 2015 debut by posting a 2.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 44/7 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. Nola will try to stay hot Sunday when he visits the Marlins.
