Salvador Perez (quad) is absent from the Royals' lineup Sunday.
The good news is that while Tony Cruz was recalled, he didn't replace Perez on the roster. The All-Star catcher suffered a quad contusion in a collision with Cheslor Cuthbert on Saturday, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. Drew Butera is catching Sunday.
Indians manager Terry Francona on Sunday wouldn't reveal whether Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) will make another rehab start or rejoin the major league rotation.
The skipper did say he got a good report on how Carrasco looked in his rehab start with Double-A Akron on Saturday where he allowed one earned run and struck out six over four frames. Carrasco threw only 53 pitches in the outing, so the Indians might want to stretch him out a bit more before activating him.
Mark Teixeira (neck) will take batting practice Sunday.
If it goes well, he could be back in the lineup Monday. Teixeira hasn't played since Tuesday due to neck injury that's bothered him throughout May.
Royals recalled C Tony Cruz from Triple-A Omaha.
He's not replacing Salvador Perez (quad) on the roster, which is a good sign for the All-Star. Cruz will serve as a third catcher with Perez likely unavailable for a bit.
Royals optioned RHP Peter Moylan to Triple-A Omaha.
Moylan holds a 2.45 ERA on the season but had been scored upon in two out of his last three appearances. He'll surely get another shot at some point.
Jimmy Rollins is not in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.
Rollins has been on the bench for two straight games and four out of the last seven contests. He's hitting only .231/.288/.343 for the season. Tyler Saladino is at shortstop.
Ryan Howard is not in the Phillies' lineup Sunday.
It's noteworthy because the Phils are facing a right-hander (John Lackey). Howard is batting only .154/.219/.346 and could start losing more and more playing time to Tommy Joseph. Philly also has Andres Blanco at second base over Cesar Hernandez.
Pedro Alvarez is not in the Orioles' lineup Sunday.
Alvarez has been benched in three of the last four games, and all three times the opponent has had a righty on the mound. The O's are going with Mark Trumbo as their designated hitter and Hyun-soo Kim and Nolan Reimold in left and right field, respectively.
