Leonys Martin delivered a two-run double off Aroldis Chapman in the eighth inning on Saturday, propelling the Mariners to a 4-1 victory over the Cubs.

The Mariners entered the eighth inning trailing 1-0, but started a rally with a pair of leadoff walks against Jake Arrieta. Hector Rondon was summoned to face a pair of right-handers, retiring them both before Chapman came on to face Martin. Martin crushed a 1-1 offering to center field, plating the tying and go-ahead run. He then deftly swiped third base and scampered home on a wild pitch providing valuable insurance. Martin finished the day 2-for-4 and is now hitting .250/.324/.427 with 13 homers, 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

Wade Miley was outstanding in Saturday afternoon's victory over the Cubs, allowing just one run on one hit over seven strong innings.

The left-hander racked up nine strikeouts on the impressive afternoon while walking one. He carried a perfect game into the seventh inning where Dexter Fowler drew a leadoff walk. Kris Bryant then followed with a single, breaking up his no-hit bid. After a sacrifice from Ben Zobrist, a ground ball from Javier Baez plated the Cubs' lone run in the contest. Miley draws a difficult assignment his next time out, as he'll do battle against the Red Sox at home on Thursday, provided he remains with the M's and isn't moved at the trade deadline.

Addison Russell had a rough afternoon at the dish in Saturday's loss to the Mariners, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts.

The Cubs struggled to get anything going against Wade Miley and company, generating just one run on three hits in the contest. With the 0-for-4, Russell is now hitting .241/.329/.407 on the year with 12 homers and 61 RBI.

Jake Arrieta logged a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Mariners, allowing two runs on two hits over seven-plus innings.

The right-hander struck out four and walked three on the afternoon. He carried a bid for a shutout into the eighth inning, but was lifted after allowing a pair of walks to start the inning. Both runs would come around to score, charging him with the loss. Even with his recent struggles, Arrieta still owns a terrific 2.75 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 139/49 K/BB ratio over 134 1/3 innings. He draws a terrific matchup his next time out, taking on the Athletics in Oakland on Friday.

Carlos Gomez (hamstring) is not in the Astros' lineup Saturday against the Tigers.

Gomez is still nursing a strained right hamstring but hopes to return on Sunday. Jake Marisnick is filling in for him at center field and will bat ninth against Justin Verlander on Saturday. Gomez has had a poor season, hitting just .216 with five homers, 29 RBI and 12 steals. He's in the last year of his contract and probably won't be back with the Astros next season.
Jul 30 - 4:59 PM

Marwin Gonzalez (hand) is not in the Astros' lineup Saturday against the Tigers.

Gonzalez will get the day off after exiting Friday night's game with right hand soreness. His X-rays came back negative but Gonzalez will still need a few days to heal up. Tyler White is getting the nod at first base. He'll bat seventh against Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander. Consider Gonzalez day-to-day.
Jul 30 - 4:55 PM

Todd Frazier is not in the White Sox lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Frazier sat out Friday's game with the flu and must still be feeling under the weather. Tyler Saladino is filling in at third base and will bat second versus Minnesota left-hander Tommy Milone. Frazier is listed on the lineup card as a bench option so we could see him as a pinch-hitter.
Jul 30 - 4:49 PM

Adam Eaton is not in the White Sox lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Eaton hasn't missed a game since the first week of the season, so he was probably due for a day off. Avisail Garcia will get the nod in right field and bat fifth against Twins lefty Tommy Milone. Eaton should be back in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale.
