Patriots waived WR Chris Harper.
Despite New England's injury woes at wide receiver, Harper gets the axe one day after muffing a punt in the Patriots' Sunday night loss to the Broncos. Danny Amendola (knee) is expected back this week versus the Eagles.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Rob Gronkowski (knee) is expected to miss "multiple weeks."
Schefter confirms Gronkowski is "not expected to play Sunday" against the Eagles, and his outlook thereafter appears to be "week to week." Scott Chandler will take over as New England's starting tight end, with Brandon LaFell's role increasing. The extent of Gronk's injury is not yet known, and we don't anticipate getting a firm timetable from the secretive Patriots.
NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports Rishard Matthews suffered "multiple fractured ribs" in the Dolphins' Week 12 loss to the Jets.
He's out indefinitely. The Dolphins now figure to turn to first-round pick DeVante Parker as a starter down the stretch of their lost season. Although his usage was skewed by negative game script, Parker piled up 10 targets against the Jets, securing four for 80 yards and a touchdown. Parker should be added in 12-team fantasy leagues. Miami faces Baltimore in Week 13.
Coach Chuck Pagano assured Monday that Andrew Luck (kidney) remains the Colts' starting quarterback when healthy.
"Andrew is our starting quarterback," said Pagano. Matt Hasselbeck is 4-0 in spot starts this season, but Luck will be back under center whenever he overcomes his kidney laceration. Luck is not expected back until mid-December.
Colts coach Chuck Pagano admitted Monday that Frank Gore is "beat to crap."
Gore ranks fifth in the NFL in touches, but his effectiveness has waned over the course of his age-32 season. He was seen limping badly on the sideline late in the Colts' Week 11 win over the Falcons, then managed 24 yards on 19 carries in Indy's Week 12 win over the Buccaneers. Gore will be tough to trust as more than a flex option this week against Pittsburgh's stout run defense.
Colts coach Chuck Pagano described ILB Jerrell Freeman as "week to week" with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
It's a concern for Indy's run defense, which has largely sputtered even with Freeman in the lineup over the last two months. Among 3-4 inside linebackers, Pro Football Focus has awarded only Luke Kuechly a higher run-stopping grade than Freeman this season. The Colts face DeAngelo Williams this week.
The Cardinals' website considers rookie David Johnson the team's "likely" Week 13 starter at running back against St. Louis.
Chris Johnson has a bone bruise on his left knee, while Andre Ellington is nursing a case of turf toe. "I have all the confidence in the world in him starting," coach Bruce Arians said of David Johnson on Monday. A third-round rookie out of East Carolina, Johnson is averaging 4.0 yards per carry but has scored eight all-purpose touchdowns, four on the ground, three as a receiver, and one on a kickoff return. He'll be a plug-and-play fantasy RB2 against the Rams.
Golden Tate (calf) was limited in Lions practice on Monday.
The calf injury isn't a concern for Tate's Week 13 availability. With Eric Ebron fading, Tate has drawn target totals of 8 and 11 the past two weeks.
