Orioles placed LHP Wade Miley on the 10-day disabled list with an illness.

Miley was scratched from a Grapefruit League start 10 days ago due to flu-like symptoms and subsequently fell behind the other pitchers in Orioles camp. He will be eligible to join the rotation on April 9 and should be ready then.

Matt Boyd tossed four scoreless innings as the Tigers beat the Orioles 7-3 on Thursday.

Boyd finally walked a batter (Chris Davis) after entering the day with a 21/0 K/BB ratio in 21 2/3 innings. He'll open up as the Tigers' fifth starter, and it seems doubtful that he'll be skipped with any frequency in the early going. We're still not very high on him as an AL-only starter.
Mar 30 - 3:54 PM

Anibal Sanchez pitched four innings in relief and allowed just one run Thursday against the Orioles.

The one run came on a wind-aided Chris Davis homer. Sanchez struck out four and walked one. He's looked really good since adjusting his arm slot earlier this month, and we'd be looking at him as an AL-only sleeper if he had a rotation spot. However, he'll be working out of the pen initially.
Mar 30 - 3:52 PM

Dylan Bundy surrendered five runs over six innings Thursday in a loss to the Tigers.

The wind blowing out to left played a role in Bundy giving up three homers today. He ends the spring with a 7.41 ERA, but there aren't any new warning signs here. That we're not recommending him in mixed leagues is more about Bundy pitching in Camden Yards and the AL East than any doubts about his talent.

Tyler Collins hit a two-run homer off the Orioles' Dylan Bundy on Thursday.

Collins didn't get much of a chance to win the center-field job this spring as he dealt with a strained lat muscle, but he does figure to play right field against right-handers while J.D. Martinez is out. How he performs there will determine whether he gets a shot in center after Martinez returns. He has a little AL-only value, but we're not expecting much. He finishes the spring with a .250/.273/.462 line.
Mar 30 - 3:48 PM

Chris Dickerson hit his fourth spring homer in his lone at-bat off the bench Thursday against the Tigers.

In an alternate universe, a more durable Dickerson is finishing up his career as a decent regular corner outfielder and spending the next couple of years as a bench player before heading off to retirement. In this one, the soon-to-be 35-year-old has had more than 200 major league at-bats in a season just once (with the Reds in 2009) and hasn't played in the majors at all since 2014. He's had a nice spring, going 10-for-38 with a .996 OPS, but the Orioles aren't going to carry him and it's doubtful he'll soon wind up with a bench job elsewhere.

Indians released 1B/DH Wily Mo Pena.

Pena signed a minor league contract with the Indians in late January, but he always looked like a serious longshot to crack the Opening Day roster. The big 35-year-old slugger did not play professional baseball in 2016 after spending the 2015 season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan.

Cardinals placed LHP Tyler Lyons on the 10-day disabled list with a right knee injury.

Lyons is still working back from November surgery on his right knee. It sounds like he could be ready to join the Cardinals' bullpen around the end of April.
