Matt Holliday's 45-game on-base streak ended on Tuesday after he was ejected from a game against the Brewers by home plate umpire Joe West.

Holliday disputed a called third strike that looked to be inside and "The Cowboy" eventually gave him the heave-ho after some arguing. It was the seventh inning and likely would have been the outfielder's last plate appearance, anyway. Holliday had reached base in every game this season, which was the longest streak in National League history.

Alfredo Simon, making his first start since May 22, took the loss after yielding four runs in 6 1/3 versus the Athletics on Tuesday.

Simon had been on the bereavement list since May 27. The right-hander was working on a shutout but faltered in the seventh inning allowing a run and leaving with the bases loaded. Reliever Angel Nesbitt came in with one out and immediately served up a grand slam to Ben Zobrist, charging three of the four runs to Simon. Simon, overall, gave up four hits, walked five, and struck out six. Considering the circumstances, we're happy to write this start off especially with the way he has pitched this season. He has a terrific 2.97 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a 44/21 K/BB ratio over 63 2/3 innings. He'll try to bounce back over the weekend in Chicago against the White Sox.

Kendall Graveman got the win on Tuesday, limiting the Tigers to three runs in six innings of work.

Graveman allowed a couple handfuls of base runners, allowing eight hits and a pair of walks, but was able to see his way out of danger. He struck out only one on the evening. The right-hander has pitched well in three starts since being brought back up to the majors on May 23, but still remains a fantasy risk. Graveman will bring a 5.56 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and an 18/15 K/BB ratio over 34 innings into a road start versus the Red Sox next.

Billy Burns went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored in Tuesday's win against the Tigers.

It's Burns' fifth consecutive multi-hit game and he's now on a seven-game hitting streak. The speedy outfielder is batting .330/.374/.435 with nine stolen bases and 18 runs scored since his call-up in early May.

Ben Zobrist walked and hit a grand slam in five plate appearances Tuesday, helping send the Athletics past the Tigers on Tuesday.

Zobrist sent an Angel Nesbitt offering to right field for a four-run four-bagger. He had been scuffling at the dish in six games since his activation from the disabled list. He's batting .243/.305/.419 on the year with a pair of home runs and 14 RBI.
Jun 2 - 10:02 PM

Marcell Ozuna hit a bases-loaded double and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Marlins beat the Cubs 5-2 on Tuesday.

Ozuna came up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning and cleared them with his 10th double of the year. The runs batted in were his first in more than a week, giving him 18 RBI on the year. Ozuna hasn't found the power stroke yet this year, hitting .272/.329/.372 overall.
Jun 2 - 9:56 PM

Junior Lake finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Lake, getting a rare start in right field, had an RBI double in the third inning. The utility player is hitting .257/.297/.371 with just two RBI on the year.
Jun 2 - 9:53 PM

A.J. Ramos got into and out of trouble Tuesday, holding a three-run lead to earn his fifth save against the Cubs.

Ramos made it interesting, allowing a single and a walk out of the gate to bring the tying run to the plate. He pulled it together, though, holding the Cubs off the board by getting two strikeouts, including Miguel Montero to end the game. Ramos has a 1.03 ERA and 0.84 WHIP overall.
