The Mets have set an innings cap for Jacob deGrom this season at around 185.

That means he has roughly 59 2/3 frames to go, or about 10 starts if he averages six innings per outing. deGrom is in line for 11 more starts if he pitches every five days, so he could either be skipped over once or shut down a bit early. It's not a major concern, and Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that the club isn't considering giving deGrom a break anytime soon. "So I think we have a couple of different ways of approaching that," Alderson said. "Now, I don’t think we want to interrupt the flow that he has going, the success he’s had."

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners have been in touch with the Red Sox regarding Jon Lester.

Of course, the Mariners have been linked to the Rays' David Price for a long time now, but Lester would almost certainly cost less since he's due to become a free agent this offseason. The Dodgers and Orioles have also reportedly called the Red Sox about Lester, but they figure to get calls from most contenders leading up to Thursday's trade deadline.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rangers have received calls on Adrian Beltre.

The Rangers consider Beltre and Yu Darvish virtually untouchable, so it's highly unlikely that those calls will lead to anything. The veteran third baseman is owed $18 million next season while his contract includes a $16 million vesting option for 2016.

Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com reports that the Red Sox are unlikely to trade closer Koji Uehara.

The Red Sox are reportedly considering trading the likes of Jon Lester and Andrew Miller, but they apparently intend to make a qualifying offer to Uehara, who is an impending free agent. Because the qualifying offer will likely be in the area of one-year, $15 million this offseason, the thought is that he will accept. Of course, the Red Sox could trade Uehara and still re-sign him as a free agent, but there's the chance they would have to guarantee multiple years in order to do so.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Monday that Kameron Loe broke his right hand in Saturday's brawl at Triple-A Reno.

Yes, that's his throwing hand. Loe, 32, signed a minor league deal with Arizona earlier this month and had a 9.00 ERA over his first six appearances in Triple-A.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Monday that Chris Owings (shoulder) has yet to take live batting practice.

Owings landed on the disabled list almost exactly one month ago with a bruised left shoulder and his recovery is taking a bit longer than originally expected. Until he starts hitting without discomfort, it's difficult to pinpoint a timetable for his return.

Athletics designated OF Kenny Wilson for assignment.

The move clears a spot for the newly-promoted Billy Burns on Oakland's 40-man roster. Wilson was just claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays earlier this month and could soon be on the move once again.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Orioles are among the teams who have contacted the Red Sox about Jon Lester.

Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask. Still, it's probably unlikely that the Red Sox would deal Lester to a division rival, even for just two months. The Dodgers are among the other teams who have expressed interest in Lester, who suddenly appears to be a legitimate possibility to be dealt before Thursday.
