Geno Smith (knee) expects to be ready for training camp.
"I’ll be full go during camp next year," said Smith. "Other than that, just taking it week by week. No need to rush it." An impending free agent, Smith will be eight months removed from surgery in July. With Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg under contract, Smith will likely be playing for a different team in 2017.
Redskins signed CB Dashaun Phillips.
Phillips is taking David Bruton’s spot on the active roster. He’s spent the last nine weeks on Washington's practice squad. Phillips should push Kendall Fuller for slot reps.
Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew (knee, PUP) isn’t expected to return Sunday.
Pettigrew has been practicing since Week 12. He hasn't had any setbacks but isn’t ready to return. The Lions will need to activate Pettigrew next week or shut him down for the season.
Lions WLB DeAndre Levy (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 13.
Levy has been getting in limited practices, but he's not expected to return Sunday. The Lions could also be without LB Tahir Whitehead (questionable, knee) against the Saints.
Lions DE Ziggy Ansah said he thinks the ankle injury he suffered Week 2 will hamper him "all year."
Coming off 14.5 sacks last season, Ansah has zero takedowns in eight games this year. His ankle certainly has something to do with the decreased production. The sacks have not been there, but Ansah does have 10 hurries in the last five games according to PFF and almost had a strip sack on Thanksgiving. Those hurries should turn into takedowns eventually.
Coach Todd Bowles said Brandon Marshall’s (knee, foot) status is a "concern."
Marshall has yet to practice this week. A return on Saturday would put him on track to suit up against the Colts, though he’s capable of playing without practicing. Marshall should be fine as a WR2 for Week 13.
Chiefs CB Steven Nelson has been removed from the Week 13 injury report.
Nelson is ready to return after getting in a full week of practice. The Chiefs will have both Nelson and Marcus Peters for the first time since Week 10.
Seahawks RB Troymaine Pope (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 13.
Pope practiced in full the last two days. He should back up Thomas Rawls, but won't see more than a few touches.
