Jeff Locke - S - Pirates

Jeff Locke threw six scoreless innings to pick up his fifth win of the season Saturday as the Pirates beat the Brewers.

It was Locke's second-consecutive scoreless start, and his season ERA is now down to 2.45 through 10 starts. The left-hander yielded just three hits and three walks while striking out seven in the outing. He hasn't taken a loss since his first start of the season on April 7. He'll take the mound again Thursday against the Tigers.

Michael Fiers - R - Brewers

Mike Fiers allowed four runs -- including three home runs -- in four innings in the loss to the Pirates on Saturday.

It was only Fiers' second start of the year and first since April 6, and you can see why. Fiers allowed homers to Andrew McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker in his four innings, and the right-hander now has a 6.62 ERA on the year. Fiers' spot in the rotation -- although not necessarily Fiers -- will come up again Thursday against the Twins.

P.J. Walters - S - Twins

P.J. Walters held the Tigers to two runs over seven innings Saturday in a 3-2 Twins victory.

The Twins had a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning so Walters simply pounded the strike zone, allowing eight hits but issuing only one walk against the dangerous Tigers attack. Walters had some solid numbers at Triple-A Rochester and should get some more looks in Minnesota, but he's never going to be a good fantasy option. The Twins' losing streak is over at 10 games.

Chris Sale - S - White Sox

Chris Sale (shoulder) played catch on Saturday and has deemed himself ready to make his Tuesday start.

"Everything is on track and I’ll be ready to go on Tuesday," Sale said, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. He was scratched from his turn this past Wednesday due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder but is feeling better after a few days of rest. It's great news for Sale owners, as the left-hander has a 5-2 record and 2.53 ERA through nine starts this season.

Doug Fister - S - Tigers

Doug Fister allowed three runs over seven innings Saturday in the Tigers' loss to the Twins.

Fister surrendered all three runs in the top of the first inning. He settled in nicely after that and wound up striking out a total of seven batters, but the Tigers' offense was unable to rise past the early deficit. Fister will carry a 5-2 record, 3.65 ERA and 1.26 WHIP into his next start against the Pirates.

Jake Westbrook - S - Cardinals

Jake Westbrook (elbow) will seek a second opinion next week, likely from Dr. James Andrews.

It's certainly not good news after Westbrook claimed to feel fine after playing catch on Friday. He had cut a previous bullpen session short earlier in the week due to discomfort, so there's definitely something amiss with the elbow. The Cardinals were originally hopeful he would miss the minimum 15 days, but at this point there isn't even a timetable for his return.

Chris Carpenter - S - Cardinals

Chris Carpenter (shoulder, neck) did not feel good after his latest bullpen session so the Cardinals are backing him off his current throwing program.

Carpenter was scheduled to face live hitters for the first time on Tuesday, but that's not going to happen anymore. The 38-year-old right-hander will continue throwing long toss and bullpen sessions until he feels like he's truly ready to take the next step. He has made just three starts since the start of the 2012 season (not including the playoffs) due to nerve irritation in his neck and shoulder.

Dustin Pedroia - 2B - Red Sox

Dustin Pedroia had a go-ahead RBI double in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Indians.

It was part of a four-run eighth inning for Boston. Pedroia just missed his third home run of the season with the double, as it bounced off the top of the Green Monster, but it's hard for fantasy owners to complain. He's hitting .337 with 25 RBI, eight stolen bases and 35 runs scored through 50 games.
