Panthers signed S Michael Griffin to a one-year contract.

Sep 27 - 5:34 PM

Free agent DE Bjoern Werner worked out for the Lions on Tuesday.

Werner didn't even make it to final cuts with the Jaguars. His workout market has not been robust.

Free agent RB Bernard Pierce worked out for the Seahawks on Tuesday.

The Seahawks are in the market for running back help with Thomas Rawls (leg) out multiple weeks. Pierce's career has been in a steady downward spiral.

Cardinals placed TE Troy Niklas on injured reserve with a wrist injury, ending his season.

Niklas needs four months of rehab. The No. 52 overall pick of the 2014 draft, Niklas has been bitten by the injury bug, sandwiching a 16-game 2015 with injury-shortened affairs. He was viewed as a blocker coming out of Notre Dame, and has lived up to his rep with only eight career catches. Niklas won't be guaranteed to make the 53-man roster in the final year of his rookie contract.

The injury-riddled New Orleans defense was shredded for 442 total yards and 45 points by the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.

Excluding a kneel down at the Saints' six-yard line as time expired, Atlanta scored point on six on eight drives. It was a horrific performance from the New Orleans defense, especially the Saints secondary that has been hit hard by injury. The Saints D/ST won't be a viable fantasy option anytime soon, as the group is coughing up an average of 32.0 points and 448.3 total yards per game.

Los Angeles used DT Aaron Donald at defensive end in their Week 3 win at Tampa Bay.

Donald was on the field for 77 of Los Angeles' 90 defensive snaps in the victory and was credited with two tackles and two quarterback hits. "Just like playing D-tackle — just lined up different. But it was good, anything I have to do to make sure we come out on top," Donald said after the game. The Rams D/ST faces a tough road test at Arizona in Week 4, where the group will be a mid-tier fantasy option.

Bears placed CB Kyle Fuller on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Fuller underwent a "scope" in mid-August, but has healed much slower than expected. The Bears, who are outright deceitful with injury information, may not have disclosed the true nature of Fuller's operation. It's another gut punch for the league's most injured defense. Fuller played 1,038 effective snaps last season. He could be designated as the Bears' "return" player off injured reserve, but for now Chicago must move forward with Tracy Porter, Jacoby Glenn and Bryce Callahan as its top three corners. It's not a good situation. Fantasy players need to keep targeting the Bears' defense.

Redskins signed OT Vinston Painter.

Painter's only three career appearances came in 2014. The Redskins need a body with LG Shawn Lauvao banged up.
