Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports that Jung Ho Kang has been granted a work visa to re-enter the United States and will rejoin the Pirates "in the coming days."

Apr 26 - 3:34 PM

Michael Fulmer shut out the Pirates for six innings and struck out nine in a no-decision Thursday.

It turned out to be the second time already this season that Fulmer was on the wrong side of a 1-0 game against the Pirates. He's pitched well enough to win four times in five starts, but he has a 1-2 record to show for his 2.76 ERA. That figures to be a problem for him all year, assuming that he isn't traded to a contender in July.

Josh Bell went 0-for-4 against the Tigers on Thursday and is batting just .240/.302/.344 in 96 at-bats.

In spite of his struggles, Bell has driven in 15 runs in the Pirates' 25 games. He could do big things in the RBI category if he can hang on to the cleanup spot this year, and he should begin to warm up soon.

Kris Bryant (head) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Thursday versus the Brewers.

Bryant has been sidelined since taking a pitch off his helmet on Sunday. He was scheduled to meet with team physician Dr. Stephen Adams on Thursday afternoon in Chicago, presumably for another round of concussion tests. Tommy La Stella will start at third base and bat fifth Thursday night against Rockies right-hander Chase Anderson.
Apr 26 - 3:28 PM

Rule 5 pick Victor Reyes went 0-for-3 before being lifted Thursday and is 1-for-12 this year.

The problem here is that Reyes has only 12 at-bats; the Tigers have nothing to play for besides developing players, so they either need to give Reyes some real playing time or send him back to the Diamondbacks. Sure, he's probably not going to be any good, but he'll be a better bet for 2019 and beyond having had 300 at-bats this year than the 100 he's currently on pace for.
Apr 26 - 3:27 PM

Jose Abreu (flu) is out of the White Sox starting lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Abreu left Wednesday's game after three innings due to flu-like symptoms. Consider him day-to-day. Matt Davidson is at first base and Daniel Palka is serving as Chicago's designated hitter in Thursday night's series opener at Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium.
Apr 26 - 3:21 PM

Joe Kelly will begin serving his six-game suspension on Thursday night.

Kelly was handed the suspension back on April 12 after intentionally hitting Tyler Austin with a pitch and inciting a benches-clearing brawl between the Red Sox and Yankees. Kelly filed an appeal, which is way he has remained active, but that appeal was officially denied by MLB on Thursday afternoon.

White Sox sent 1B Casey Gillaspie outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Gillaspie was added to Chicago's 40-man roster last November so that he would be protected from the Rule 5 Draft, but he's off it now. A former first-round pick of the Rays, Gillaspie has batted just .214/.263/.229 through 76 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level.
