Chase d'Arnaud went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs on Sunday as the Padres topped the Nationals.

Drawing a start at shortstop in this one, d'Arnaud delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning that increased the Padres' advantage to 5-2. He's now hitting .350/.409/.400 in his limited action this season.

Jhoulys Chacin struggled in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings.

On the positive side, Chacin did rack up six strikeouts on the afternoon while walking two. He has been extremely inconsistent this season, especially away from home, and now sports a troublesome 5.77 ERA and 1.46 WHIP on the season. He'll try to get back in the win column on Saturday against the Rockies.

Adam Lind went 1-for-3 and plated two runs on Sunday as the Nationals fell to the Padres.

Lind plated his club's first run on a fielder's choice in the first inning. He then delivered an RBI double in the fifth. He has been impressive in limited action this season, slashing .340/.400/.604 with three homers and 16 RBI.

Joe Ross struggled in a losing effort against the Padres on Sunday, surrendering five runs on 12 hits in four-plus innings of work.

The right-hander walked one and struck out four on the afternoon. Ryan Schimpf got to him early with a two-run blast in the first inning and Chase d'Arnaud added a two-run single in the fifth. It was also the first start Ross made in which he didn't get a glutton of run support. He'll carry a 6.18 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into Saturday's start against the Athletics in Oakland.

Evan Longoria went 2-for-6 with a go-ahead solo home run in the 15th inning of Sunday's win over the Twins.

Way back in the ninth inning, Longoria hit a key RBI double to keep the Rays alive. He did more than keep them alive in the top of the 15th, reaching for an outside pitch and pulling it into the seats in left-center to give the Rays a 7-6 lead. Logan Morrison would follow with a solo homer of his own for a little breathing room and the Rays would go on to win by an 8-6 final. Longoria entered action on Sunday having picked up just two hits in his last 14 at-bats.
May 28 - 8:49 PM

Corey Dickerson went 4-for-8 with an RBI single in Sunday's 15-inning win over the Twins.

With runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the 14th inning, Dickerson lined a bullet single up the middle to send Michael Martinez around third. Byron Buxton's throw home was on line but low, hitting the mound and preventing a play at the plate as the Rays took a 6-5 lead. While Dickerson played momentary hero, the Twins would come back to tie it in the bottom of the frame to send the game to the 15th inning. Dickerson is now slashing a hearty .337/.380/.608 with 12 homers and 24 RBI over the course of 49 games played.
May 28 - 8:48 PM

Steven Souza went 3-for-7 with a game-tying RBI single in the ninth inning of Sunday's 15-inning win over the Twins.

After Evan Longoria drew the Rays to within 5-4 with a ninth-inning RBI double, Souza hit a single to right off Brandon Kintzler with two outs to bring Longo to the plate. Jason Castro made a nice attempt at the swipe tag to force a replay review, but after five minutes or thereabouts, it was confirmed that Longoria was safe. The score would remain knotted at 5-5 until the 14th inning, when both teams scored solitary runs. The Rays would hit two solo homers in the next inning to finally put the Twins away by an 8-6 final score.
May 28 - 8:46 PM

Joe Mauer went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI double and three walks in Sunday's 15-inning, 8-6 loss to the Rays.

Beautiful game for Mauer, though the Twins were unable to put it into the win column. Mauer's fine afternoon started with an RBI double off Alex Cobb in the third inning and he later socked a solo opposite-field homer in the seventh. That one tied the game up at 3-3, but the game would see a number of back-and-forths afterward before the Rays finally came out on top via solo homers by Evan Longoria and Logan Morrison in the top of the 15th inning. Overall, Mauer is hitting .283/.363/.408 with three homers and 18 RBI across 152 at-bats.
