Scott Kazmir was terrific in Saturday's start against the White Sox, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings.

Kazmir relented only two hits and two walks while striking out four in the outing. He's been nearly unhittable in three starts spanning 12 innings so far this spring, yielding just one run on six hits and four walks with 14 strikeouts. The lefty delivered for the A's last season, finishing with a 3.55 ERA in 190 1/3 innings and could have significant fantasy value if he can repeat the performance this year.

Jarrod Parker (elbow) threw 20 pitches, hitting 92 miles per hour, in a simulated game Saturday.

Parker and Athletics manager Bob Melvin seemed very pleased with the outing. Parker is aiming for a mid-season return from Tommy John surgery.

Billy Burns went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in Saturday's Cactus League match-up with the White Sox.

It marked his seventh multi-hit game of the spring. The performance brought his average up to .381 (24-for-63). He was caught stealing, lowering his success rate to 66.7% (4-for-6). If he winds up on the Athletics' bench, he could rack up the steals very quickly, giving him some limited fantasy value.

Royals released INF Ryan Roberts.

Roberts was in camp trying to make the team as a non-roster invitee, but the infielder batted just .219/.265/.313 in Cactus League play. He was granted his release by the club, and he'll look for another opportunity elsewhere.

Hisashi Iwakuma gave up four runs in five innings as the Giants held on for a 9-8 victory over the Mariners on Saturday.

Iwakuma was making his first start in a week and a half, allowing his first runs of the spring in the process. Two of the five hits he allowed went for extra bases, and he walked two as well. The right-hander did strike out four. The outing isn't concerning at all, as Iwakuma should register above-average numbers during the regular season. He posted a 3.52 ERA with a 154/21 K/BB ratio in 179 innings last season.

Jake Peavy was hit hard by the Mariners on Saturday, yielding six runs (five earned) in 3 1/3 innings.

The Mariners were relentless, scoring twice in the first, once in the second, and three times in the fourth. They hit two home runs off of Peavy, from Mike Zunino and Kyle Seager. Overall, Peavy gave up seven hits, walked one, and struck out one. The right-hander has had a disappointing spring, but should be counted on to deliver modest fantasy value during the regular season. Last season, between the Red Sox and Giants, he posted a 3.73 ERA with a 158/63 K/BB ratio over 202 2/3 innings.

Kyle Seager went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a slugfest with the Giants on Saturday.

Seager homered off of Jake Peavy in the fourth inning, tying the game at four apiece at the time. The third baseman, who signed a $100 million extension over the winter, is hitting .300 (12-for-40) with three home runs and 10 RBI this spring. Seager had the best season of his young career last year, belting 25 home runs and driving in 96 runs.
Mar 28 - 7:34 PM

Mike Zunino swatted a pair of solo home runs in his three at-bats Saturday against the Giants.

Zunino homered to left field off of Jake Peavy in the second inning, then skied a Jeremy Affeldt offering over the fence in left-center in the sixth. The catcher now has six spring homers along with a .310 average (13-for-42) and 10 RBI. Zunino broke out with 22 home runs last season, but hit just .199.
