Jhoulys Chacin was touched up for eight earned runs, nine hits and five walks with five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Chacin threw just 52 of his 89 pitches for strikes, and he posted just 12 first-pitch strikes to the 27 batters he faced. He also set a season-high with five walks issued. His ERA jumped from 3.18 to 3.82 as a result of the poor outings, its highest mark since May 10. He'll look to get back on track Saturday in Cincinnati opposite Tyler Mahle.

Matt Carpenter went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBI in Sunday's 8-2 road win against the Brewers.

Carpenter started off the month with no hits over 11 at-bats, but he is now 21-for-71 (.296) with five doubles, six homers and 12 RBI over the past 18 games to raise his average from .215 to .237. He still strikes out an awful lot and his average is mediocre at best, but his extra-base ability makes him a solid fantasy option across most formats.

Luke Weaver allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a victory Sunday in Milwaukee.

Weaver threw 75 of his 104 pitches for strikes, including 19 first-pitch strikes to the 25 batters he faced. He even helped his own cause with an RBI on a sacrifice at the plate. The victory ended an eight-game run without a win dating back to May 11 in San Diego. He hasn't won in front of the home folks at all this season, as all four of his wins have been on the road. He'll look to change all of that when the Cards host the Braves next Saturday night.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are one of the clubs that has expressed interest in acquiring Zach Britton from the Orioles.

The Red Sox are certainly familiar with their long-time divisional foe. Britton, who is a free agent at season's end is almost a lock to be dealt before next month's trade deadline. Interested parties want to ensure he's fully healthy first though, which includes demonstrating the ability to work in back-to-back games.

Maikel Franco was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Nationals with an apparent leg injury.

Franco slipped off of first base while hustling out an infield single and went tumbling to the ground. He stayed in the game to run the bases for himself, but seemed to be favoring his right knee and was replaced when the Phillies took the field to start the bottom of the eighth inning. The Phillies should provide an update on his status after the conclusion of Sunday's game.

Dereck Rodriguez allowed one earned run, four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Padres.

Rodriguez threw 69 of his 99 pitches for strikes in the quality start, matching fellow rookie Eric Lauer. The game ended up going into extra innings before the bullpens decided a winner. He'll look to keep up the good work when the Giants hit the road next weekend for a series against the division rival Diamondbacks.

Andrew Knapp was removed from Sunday's game against the Nationals with a right knee contusion.

Knapp was banged up a few times behind the plate during the game and eventually came out in the eighth inning. Jorge Alfaro came on to replace him. Should anything happen to Alfaro, the Phillies don't have an emergency catcher with Jesmuel Valentin away from the club on paternity leave.
Jun 24 - 11:49 PM

Brad Hand allowed two earned runs, two hits and a walk while retiring just one batter in a blown save and loss in San Francisco on Sunday.

Hand came on to protect a 21 lead in the bottom of the 11th inning, but he was tagged for two runs, including an intentional walk and a hit batsman. He threw just two first-pitch strikes to the five batters he faced, struggling with his location as his ERA rose from 2.37 to 2.82 after the ugly outing. Hand has allowed five earned runs over his past three innings across the past four outings. The team could elect to deal him at the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31, but he needs to get back on track so he doesn't hurt his stock.
