Brewers released RHP David Herndon.

The 29-year-old hurler hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2012 season and has been limited to just 31 appearances the past three seasons due to various injuries. He'll look to latch on elsewhere.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Sunday that Juan Uribe was held out of action on Sunday with an upper respiratory ailment.

Mattingly expects Uribe to be back in the lineup on Monday and doesn't expect the issue to be recurring. The 36-year-old will begin the year as the Dodgers starting third baseman, but with Alex Guerrero and Hector Olivera breathing down his neck, it's unclear how long they'll keep him at the hot corner if he comes out of the gates slowly.
Mar 29 - 8:57 PM

Micah Johnson continued his impressive Cactus League season, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the White Sox topped the Indians 4-1 on Sunday.

The speedy infielder has all but locked up the team's starting job at second base, hitting .347 (17-for-49) with a homer, six RBI and three stolen bases. While he'll hit near the bottom of the White Sox lineup, his speed alone should provide plenty of mixed league value.
Mar 29 - 8:54 PM

Scott Carroll pitched well in Sunday's victory over the Indians, allowing just one unearned run on two hits over three innings.

Carroll walked one and struck out one on the ballgame. He has done a tremendous job in Cactus League competition, posting a 1.04 ERA 6/3 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings. He could crack the White Sox opening day roster as a long reliever, otherwise he'll serve as rotational depth at Triple-A.
Mar 29 - 8:51 PM

Michael Brantley (back) went 1-for-3 in his return to the Indians lineup on Sunday.

The 27-year-old outfielder had been sidelined for the previous week with back tightness. The team believes that it won't be a recurring issue though and Brantley should be fully healthy and ready to go for Opening Day. While he is unlikely to repeat the gaudy numbers he posted in his breakout 2014 campaign, Brantley still represents one of the best five-category contributors in the league.
Mar 29 - 8:48 PM

T.J. House struggled in Sunday's Cactus League loss to the White Sox, allowing four runs on six hits over six frames.

The 25-year-old southpaw punched out four and walked two on the afternoon. Recently named as the fifth starter in the Tribe's Opening Day rotation, it probably wasn't the type of outing that House had in mind to cement his spot. House now sports a 5.70 ERA and 19/5 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings on the spring.
Mar 29 - 8:44 PM

Travis Ishikawa was removed from Sunday's Cactus League contest due to back tightness.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said afterwards that Ishikawa's back flared up during the game. He'll be re-evaluated on Monday. The injury appears to be minor and shouldn't affect his status for the start of the regular season.
Mar 29 - 8:29 PM

Brewers released RHP Chris Perez.

The former closer was in camp as a non-roster invitee and attempting to earn a spot in the team's bullpen. With the team granting his unconditional release with a week remaining in camp, it gives Perez an opportunity to find a bullpen job elsewhere.
