Sean Nolin really struggled in his major league debut Friday, giving up six runs in just 1 1/3 innings against the Orioles.

Nolin yielded seven hits, including a three-run homer to J.J. Hardy and a three-run homer to Nick Markakis. The young southpaw walked one and struck out none before being pulled in favor of Ramon Ortiz in the second inning. It's not clear if Nolin will get another start with the Jays, but it appears that he might not be ready for primetime.

Scott Feldman turned in his worst outing of the season in Friday’s loss to the Reds, allowing five runs on seven hits over his 5 1/3 innings.

Feldman walked one and punched out five on the night. All of the damage against him came in the fourth inning and stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard. Joey Votto opened the scoring with a solo home run, and Ryan Hanigan tacked on a three-run shot. He did his part on offense at least, launching a two-run homer in the second inning. Despite the poor outing, Feldman still sports a tidy 2.80 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 44/19 K/BB ratio on the season. He’ll attempt to get back on track when he takes on the White Sox at home on Wednesday.

Chris Davis went 3-for-4 with his major league-leading 16th homer in a win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

The home run was a solo shot. Davis cooled down a bit after his ridiculous start to the season, but now he's red-hot once again. The 27-year-old slugger has gone deep in three straight games and five out of his last seven. Meanwhile, his batting line sits at a ridiculous .337/.426/.723 through 47 games. We could be witness a true breakout here.

Melky Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer Friday against the Orioles.

It was Cabrera's second home run of the season. The 28-year-old outfielder has been playing through some leg issues this month, but it hasn't affected his performance at the plate. He's hitting .360 over his last 19 games.

David Phelps has been diagnosed with a right forearm contusion after X-rays came back negative on Friday.

Phelps was removed from his start against the Rays in the eight inning on Friday after being drilled on the forearm by a line drive. It sounds like Phelps should be alright to make his next scheduled start against the Mets at home on Wednesday. Should he be unable to go however, Ivan Nova could be a candidate to make a spot start.

Nationals recalled INF Jeff Kobernus from Triple-A Syracuse.

The 24-year-old Kobernus is off to a great start, hitting .333/.378/.420 with a homer, 20 RBI and 21 steals through his first 43 games at Syracuse. He also provides the Nationals with versatility on the bench with his ability to play up to six different positions. He could be worth a look for those in need of speed in deep NL-only formats.

Brett Gardner smacked a two-run homer in Friday's 9-4 win over the Rays.

It was his fourth home run of the season and his first since April 26. The 29-year-old hasn't been as active on the basepaths as usual, as he only has nine stolen bases in 47 games, but he's currently on pace to reach new career-highs in home runs and RBI.
May 24 - 10:22 PM

Roberto Hernandez was touched up for five runs over four innings Friday in a loss to the Yankees.

Hernandez completed six innings in six out of his first seven starts, but he was pulled after two innings last time out and had another early exit Friday night. He gave up six hits (including a two-run homer to Brett Gardner) and three walks in the loss and has now allowed eight long balls over his last five starts. With an ugly 5.73 ERA on the year, he shouldn't be trusted in most fantasy leagues.
