The Baltimore Sun suggests the Ravens could tender K Justin Tucker at a first- or second-round level.

LeGarrette Blount denies orchestrating his November release from the Steelers.

Conspiracy theorists suggest that New England reached out to Blount and told him that if he wiggled his way out of Pittsburgh, he'd be able to return to Bill Belichick's waiting arms. So then Blount went haywire with his attitude and quit on the team, leaving Mike Tomlin no choice but to dump Le'Veon Bell's backup. The hole in that theory is that every team in the league had a chance to claim him before he became a free agent and signed with the Patriots. Regardless, in seven games as a Patriot since then, Blount has rushed 93 times for 430 yards (4.62 YPC) with six touchdowns.

Free agent CB Antonio Cromartie said he's open to returning to the Jets.

The dots connect here. Cromartie played some of his best ball as a Jet from 2010-13, he was elite in new coach Todd Bowles while with the Cardinals in 2014 and the Jets' secondary desperately needs a talent infusion. Cromartie, 30, is our No. 4 corner available in free agency, only behind Bryon Maxwell, Brandon Flowers and Tramon Williams.

It's reportedly "all but a certainty" the Rams will stay in-house to fill their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Nathaniel Hackett, Kyle Shanahan and Adam Gase all took jobs elsewhere, leaving the Rams twisting in the wind as they look to replace Schottenheimer. So Jeff Fisher will settle for either quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti or tight ends coach Rob Boras, neither of whom has ever coordinated an NFL offense.

Broncos hired Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator.

Everyone except irrational Cowboys fans seems to realize how great a coach and defensive mind Phillips is. This is a fantastic hire for the Broncos, who reunite Gary Kubiak with Phillips after the two teamed to turn the Texans into a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the early 2010s. Phillips runs an aggressive "one-gap" 3-4 defense, which will play to the edge-rushing strengths of Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware. Outgoing DC Jack Del Rio essentially refused to blitz in 2014, and ultimately failed to maximize Denver's otherworldly defensive talent.

Brandon LaFell (shoulder, toe) has been removed from the Patriots' injury report.

LaFell is practicing in full this week. His Super Bowl status was never in doubt.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports the 49ers are expected to promote QBs coach Geep Chryst to offensive coordinator.

This was expected when the 49ers hired Steve Logan as QBs coach. San Francisco is staying in-house after Rob Chudzinski re-signed with the Colts. Chryst has coached the 49ers' quarterbacks the last four seasons and has limited playcalling experience, but did serve as the Chargers' OC from 1999-2000. It's not an exciting hire for a team that already has an unproven coach in Jim Tomsula. The 49ers' coaching staff has taken a big step back this winter.

The Seahawks have opened extension talks with RCB Byron Maxwell.

An impending free agent, re-signing Maxwell is one of GM John Schneider's top priorities. He's been a major part of Seattle's defense the last two years since taking over for Brandon Browner, and would draw interest from multiple teams on the open market. Maxwell is Rotoworld's No. 1 free-agent corner.
