Luis Valbuena went 2-for-4 with RBI single Saturday against the Red Sox.

His RBI single in the ninth was the Astros' only offense of the day against Clay Buchholz. Through three months, Valbuena has had one of the strangest seasons to date. While he has 19 home runs and 36 RBI on the year, he's batting just .201 with a .281 on-base percentage. He could be pushed into a part-time role when Jed Lowrie is ready to come off the disabled list.

Jordan Walden (biceps) won't return until after the All-Star break.

He's been out with right biceps inflammation. Walden has progressed to throwing off a mound and is scheduled to throw three bullpen sessions next week. After that, he'll go on a minor league rehab assignment. The right-hander has allowed just one run in 12 outings this season.
Jul 4 - 4:46 PM

Matt Holliday (quad) will travel with the Cardinals on their upcoming road trip.

That puts Holliday on track to return before the All-Star break. He's gone through batting practice without issue but needs to pass a few more tests before he can return. Holliday was placed on the disabled list last month with a strained right quad. Randall Grichuk has been the primary left fielder during his absence.

J.D. Martinez continued his home run barrage in Saturday's 8-3 victory over the Blue Jays, smashing his 22nd home run of the season.

The 27-year-old outfielder has now clobbered 12 home runs in his last 18 games. He finished the afternoon 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now slashing .284/.338/.555 with 22 homers and 55 RBI on the season.
Jul 4 - 4:37 PM

David Price racked up seven strikeouts over seven strong innings in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays.

The All-Star southpaw allowed just one run on eight hits and a walk over his seven frames. The only blemish against him on the afternoon was a solo homer off the bat of Kevin Pillar in the fifth inning. The clear ace of the Tigers staff, and pending free agent, has been terrific again this season, registering a 2.54 ERA and 107/22 K/BB ratio through 117 innings. He'll look to continue that dominance when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.
Jul 4 - 4:33 PM

Chris Colabello went 2-for-4 and blasted his seventh home run of the season in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday.

Colabello continues to hammer the baseball, slashing an outstanding .335/.374/.505 with seven long balls and 31 RBI. He continues to be worth utilizing in mixed leagues until he cools off.
Jul 4 - 4:32 PM

R.A. Dickey struggled in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, matching a career high with 11 hits allowed while surrendering five runs in his 5 2/3 innings.

Dickey also walked a pair and struck out one in the ballgame. Nearly all of the damage came in the first inning, where the Tigers struck for four runs including a two-run blast by J.D. Martinez. Dickey simply hasn't been good this season, registering a 5.02 ERA, 4.86 xFIP and 64/42 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings. He'll take on the White Sox in Chicago his next time out on Thursday.
Jul 4 - 4:30 PM

Cubs recalled C Taylor Teagarden from Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs need catching depth with David Ross (concussion) on the 7-day disabled list. Teagarden has done a nice job in Triple-A this year, batting .294 with 19 RBI in 43 games for the I-Cubs. He'll backup Miguel Montero behind the plate.
