Ryan Howard is not in the Phillies' lineup Sunday.

It's noteworthy because the Phils are facing a right-hander (John Lackey). Howard is batting only .154/.219/.346 and could start losing more and more playing time to Tommy Joseph. Philly also has Andres Blanco at second base over Cesar Hernandez.

Pedro Alvarez is not in the Orioles' lineup Sunday.

Alvarez has been benched in three of the last four games, and all three times the opponent has had a righty on the mound. The O's are going with Mark Trumbo as their designated hitter and Hyun-soo Kim and Nolan Reimold in left and right field, respectively.

Michael Brantley (shoulder) admitted Saturday that it's "going to take a little bit of time" before he returns.

Indians manager Terry Francona added that the club is taking a more "conservative" approach with Brantley now after it appears they brought him back from the disabled list too soon late last month. "We didn't put a timetable (on Brantley's return) because there isn't one," said Francona. "It's how he feels." Brantley took dry swings and hit off a tee Friday, but he hasn't been cleared to swing a bat in consecutive days yet.

Michael Saunders is absent from the Blue Jays' lineup Sunday.

It's a routine day off. Ezequiel Carrera is left field. Russell Martin is also on the bench, as Josh Thole is catching R.A. Dickey, as usual.

Jayson Werth is not in the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

He's just getting a breather. Michael Taylor is in center field and Ben Revere is in left.

Yankees released INF Deibinson Romero.

The 29-year-old was hitting only .132/.242/.226 for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He'll look to catch on elsewhere.

Matt Adams (back) is back in the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Adams didn't start the last two games due to a back issue, although he delivered a pinch-hit, two-run double Saturday. He's batting .393/.443/.696 with four homers and 17 RBI this month.

Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports that Tim Lincecum is expected to make his debut with the Angels on June 12.

Lincecum threw approximately 75 pitches in an extended spring training game on Saturday and his next appearance will be with Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. He'll make one additional start for Salt Lake on June 7 before joining the Halos' rotation. "Everything felt pretty good," Lincecum said of his appearance in extended spring. "What I asked for and what the Angels are giving me is just time to move along at my own pace and figure out things that I need to."
