The Dallas defense will focus on stopping Carolina QB Cam Newton in Week 12, who is coming off a career-high five touchdown performance.
Newton has thrown 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions in Carolina's last four games, and has been dubbed the biggest key for Dallas in Week 12 by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "It’ll be an extreme challenge, he’s having a fantastic year and we have to find a way to keep him down," said Dallas linebacker Sean Lee about the idea of stopping Newton. The Cowboys D/ST will be a lower-tier fantasy option this week against the undefeated Panthers, who are averaging 34.3 points over the last four weeks.
The Detroit defense has not forced a turnover since Week 7.
The Lions have been unsuccessful in the turnover department in recent weeks, but have put together two solid defensive performances since their Week 9 bye. The first eight games of the 2015 saw Detroit allow 30.6 points per game, while they have given up just 29 total points over the last two weeks. Week 12 brings a matchup with Philadelphia QB Mark Sanchez, who has thrown four interceptions in 64 pass attempts this season. The Lions D/ST is a reasonable streaming option this week.
The Green Bay defense will look to build upon a success full Week 11 performance in which they sacked Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater six times.
Green Bay is tied for sixth among NFL defenses with 29 sacks on the season and will face Chicago in Week 12, who has allowed only 18 sacks in 2015. After a three-game losing streak, the Packers turned things around in Week 11 with a 30-13 win at Minnesota and will look to pick on Chicago QB Jay Cutler in Week 12, who hasn't thrown more than one interception in a single game this season. The Packers D/ST is an underwhelming Week 12 fantasy option on a short week.
The Washington defense will attempt to contain New York QB Eli Manning in the second 2015 meeting between the Redskins and Giants.
Manning threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns when these teams met in Week 3, with both touchdown passes coming in the fourth quarter of a 32-21 Giants win. The Redskins D/ST is coming off a loss at Carolina, where Panthers QB Cam Newton tossed five touchdowns, and will look to turn things around in Week 12 against their divisional foe. The Redskins D/ST won't be a recommended fantasy option this week.
The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed an opposing running back to top 100 yards in three of their last four games.
The Eagles are last in the NFL in run defense over the last five weeks, which was capped off by Doug Martin's 235-yard effort in Week 11 against the Philadelphia defense. Chip Kelly's defense will have a chance to reverse this trend in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, who are last in the NFL in rushing. The Eagles D/ST is a borderline top-12 fantasy option this week on Thanksgiving against Detroit.
The New York Jets will be without CB Darrelle Revis (concussion) in Week 12 when they host the Miami Dolphins.
The Jets have struggled against the pass in recent weeks, allowing 295.4 passing yards per game over the last five weeks, and the absence of Revis won't help their cause. The Jets D/ST will be a middling fantasy option in Week 12 at home against Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins.
Saints signed CB Chris Owens, formerly of the Lions.
Owens is a backup-caliber slot corner and possible special teams help.
Darrelle Revis (concussion) is unlikely to play Sunday.
Revis was sent home from Wednesday’s practice. Coach Todd Bowles said the Jets aren’t planning on having him this week. Buster Skrine or Marcus Williams will start if Revis is held out, with Williams playing outside in sub-packages. This is an upgrade to Jarvis Landry's matchup. Although Revis doesn't always travel into the slot, he did so when these teams played in London.
