ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that the Yankees and Padres are discussing a trade that would send Ian Kennedy to New York in exchange for third base prospect Eric Jagielo and pitching prospect Ian Clarkin.

It's not clear at this point how far along talks are. It would be Kennedy's second stint in New York if the trade did go through, as he was drafted by the Yanks and spent his first three big league seasons there. Needless to say, it would be just about the worse-case scenario for his fantasy value going from Petco Park to Yankee Stadium. Kennedy is making $6.1 million this season and is eligible for arbitration for a final time this winter.

Lucas Duda walked and homered in four at-bats in Thursday's loss to the Brewers.

Duda was the only one able to figure out Matt Garza, who dominated the Mets. Duda took Garza deep to center for a solo home run in the seventh inning, his club's only run of the evening. The first baseman has quietly been among the most productive at his position, at least offensively, as he is slashing .260/.360/.490 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI.

Jonathan Lucroy finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI single as the Brewers routed the Mets on Thursday.

The catcher is starting to catch fire again, now with multi-hit games in his last three contests. He took Dillon Gee deep for a solo shot in the first, then capped off a four-run second with an RBI single. Lucroy maintains an impressive .314/.383/.508 slash line with 12 home runs and 49 RBI.

Dillon Gee was hit hard in a loss to the Brewers on Thursday, allowing six runs over five innings.

The Brewers scored all six runs Gee allowed in the first three innings of the game, including four in the second. Overall, he allowed six hits (four of which went for extra bases), walked two, and struck out six. Gee's ERA rises to 3.49, and he has a 1.09 WHIP and a 51/18 K/BB ratio as well. He'll face the Phillies on the road in his next start.

Matt Garza tossed eight innings of one-run ball against the Mets en route to a win on Thursday.

Garza had a nightmarish outing last Saturday against the Nationals, but bounced back nicely against the Mets. He made only one damaging mistake, serving up a solo home run to Lucas Duda in the seventh. Overall, he allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four. The right-hander now owns a 3.87 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 98/41 K/BB ratio. He'll face the Rays on the road in his next start.

Edwin Jackson left Thursday's start against the Padres in the sixth inning with cramping in his right hand.

Jackson allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk before leaving and was already at 87 pitches, so he wasn't going to be in for much longer, anyway. He should be fine for his next outing.

Edwin Jackson left Thursday's start against the Padres in the sixth inning with an apparent injury.

Jackson allowed the first two batters to reach in the sixth before exiting the field with the Cubs' trainer. An update on his condition should be available shortly. He allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk before leaving.

Henderson Alvarez was solid over eight innings, allowing just two runs, but took a no-decision as the Marlins won 3-2 against the Braves on Thursday.

Alvarez made one big mistake, allowing a two-run home run to Chris Johnson in the second inning. Other than that, he stymied the Braves, allowing six hits overall while walking one and striking out four. In the process, he lowers his ERA a couple points to 2.62 and is now carrying a 1.23 WHIP and a 79/23 K/BB ratio. He'll face the Nationals at home in his next start.
