J.D. Martinez is absent from the Red Sox' lineup for Friday's contest against the Athletics.

It looks to be just a regular day of rest for the hard-hitting outfielder, though it comes at a curious time when he's scorching hot at the plate. Martinez is hitting .469/.471/.844 with three homers and nine RBI over his last eight games.

Anthony Rendon (toe) remains out of the Nationals' lineup for a sixth straight game on Friday.

It has now been a week since Anthony Rendon fouled a ball off of his toe, and he has yet to return to action. The club continues to take things day-to-day though and maintains that he won't require a trip to the disabled list. Wilmer Difo is starting in his place at the hot corner again and will bat eighth against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.
Apr 20 - 6:27 PM

Zack Cozart is not in the Angels' starting lineup for Friday's showdown against the Giants.

There's nothing wrong with Cozart, it's just a routine day off for him. Luis Valbuena is starting in his place at third base and batting fifth against Jeff Samardzija and the Giants. Shohei Ohtani is also in the lineup again as the designated hitter, batting sixth.

Padres optioned LHP Tyler Webb to Triple-A El Paso.

The left-hander appeared in just two games for the Padres, registering an 8.10 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 3/2 K/BB ratio across his 3 1/3 innings of work. He should get another opportunity with the big league club at some point this season.
Apr 20 - 6:23 PM

Padres activated 1B/OF Wil Myers from the 10-day disabled list.

Myers has been sidelined for the last two weeks due to nerve irritation in his right arm. Before landing on the disabled list, he was 3-for-12 (.250) with one homer and one RBI.
Apr 20 - 6:20 PM

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Matt Koch from Triple-A Reno.

Koch will start for the Diamondbacks' on Friday in place of the injured Taijuan Walker. If he performs well, he could have a chance to stick around in the D'Backs' rotation. The 27-year-old owns a 3.15 ERA and 0.80 WHIP across 20 sporadic innings at the big league level over the last three seasons.
Apr 20 - 6:18 PM

A.J. Pollock is absent from the Diamondbacks' starting lineup on Friday.

It looks to be nothing more than just a regular day of rest for the dynamic outfielder. Jarrod Dyson is sliding over to start in center field while Daniel Descalso starts in left field and will bat cleanup against Tyson Ross and the Padres.
Apr 20 - 6:11 PM

Rangers released RHP Steve Delabar.

Delabar inked a minor league deal over the winter but gets the boot after posting a 4.77 ERA over five relief appearances at Triple-A Round Rock. Yovani Gallardo has officially been added to Round Rock's roster in Delabar's place.
