Johnny Cueto (elbow) struck out four and allowed just one single over 3 2/3 shutout innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Cueto threw 33 of 48 pitches for strikes as he cruised through his 3 2/3 frames in his first game action in nearly two months. The veteran right-hander is expected to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the Giants' rotation, although perhaps he can talk them into an earlier return if he looks good again the next time out.

Ryan Braun (thumb) went 1-for-2 with an infield single in his return to action Saturday.

Braun was out of the lineup for the fifth straight game after undergoing cryotherapy on his right thumb, but he came off the bench to replace Lorenzo Cain (groin). He figures to be in Sunday's lineup.
