Clayton Kershaw (biceps) threw four innings in a simulated game Saturday.

After the outing, Kershaw declared himself ready to go in five days if the Dodgers need him. Whether the team feels the same way is unclear. Either way, the bottom line is Kershaw is close to a return. He's been on the disabled list since May 6 with left biceps tendinitis.

Chad Pinder went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Pinder clocked a solo home run in the eighth inning to put a loud bow on his nice little afternoon. He's played well when he's seen the field this season, slashing .275/.333/.505 with five home runs and 12 RBI in 31 games. As he's stuck in a platoon, there's just not much room for fantasy upside here.

Matt Joyce went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Joyce clocked a solo home run off Clay Buchholz in the first inning to give the A's an early 1-0 lead. The dinger was his sixth of the season. For the campaign as a whole, the veteran outfielder is slashing .211/.331/.394 with six home runs and nine RBI in 48 games played. He should be good for double-digit long balls when all is said and done this year, but his bat doesn't bring much else to the fantasy table.
May 26 - 7:02 PM

Paul Goldschmidt went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the A's.

Goldschmidt's been surprisingly quiet with the bat this season and Saturday's game continued that trend. Overall, the usually-dependable slugger is slashing just .201/.319/.380 with six home runs and 16 RBI in 51 games played this year. The numbers are discouraging, but Goldschmidt is a far better hitter than what he's shown this season and even if he can't quite get his numbers back to what we're accustomed to seeing -- and there's still plenty of runway to land that statistical plane -- he is a prime buy-low candidate for fantasy purposes.

Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) will face live hitters Tuesday.

The right-hander threw a bullpen session Friday and came out of it well, allowing him to take the next step. Iwakuma hasn't pitched yet this year after an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his right shoulder in September and a setback in late April when he experienced soreness in the shoulder. It's still unclear when he might return to the Mariners rotation.

Cubs recalled LHP Randy Rosario from Triple-A Iowa.

Rosario was just sent down less than a week ago, but Yu Darvish's triceps injury created a need for another arm. Rosario has a microscopic 0.47 ERA in 12 appearances at Triple-A this year and threw two scoreless innings in his only big league outing a week ago.
May 26 - 6:50 PM

David Peralta went 1-for-4 in Saturday's loss to the A's.

The Diamondbacks managed just a pair of singles off a dominant Daniel Mengden in this one. Peralta had a knock, Socrates Brito had a knock and that was it in terms of the team's offensive action on the afternoon. That single by Peralta actually extended a hitting streak to six games. So there was that. Otherwise, nothing to write home about for the road team. On the whole, the outfielder is slashing .268/.340/.436 with seven home runs and 21 RBI across 179 at-bats this season.
May 26 - 6:49 PM

Cubs placed RHP Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 23, with right triceps tightness.

Darvish owns a disappointing 4.95 ERA in eight starts, so perhaps this injury has contributed to some of his struggles. It's unclear when the triceps injury occurred, though, especially since his last outing was a positive one. Tyler Chatwood will make Darvish's scheduled Sunday start.
